Hi I'm Curtis

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, I am a nerd, musician, and amateur artist, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the eldest of three children of my parents, and I am currently serving as a missionary. I am a big computer geek. I love technology and all that it can do. I am musically gifted; I know how to play French Horn, Guitar, and a bit of Piano. I like to listen to rock music, as long as it is not explicit. I like to watch movies and play video games and hang out around fellow geeks. I enjoy drawing and sketching and tend to do it when I have some free time. I also have been writing some short stories and am currently in the process of writing a novel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents had taught me this gospel since I was born. Through personal scripture study, constant church attendance, and humble prayer, my knowledge that this is the true church is strengthened even more. Through this gospel and by Jesus Christ, we are able to have a body on Earth. We are able to repent of any past sins, and we are able to return to him when we pass on. I know that Jesus Christ is our savior and that he loves each and every one of us.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday I can. I also take time to read and ponder about the things contained in the Book of Mormon and Bible. I usually try to apply the things I learn in the scriptures and other books about Christ in my own life. I try to do what I can to do what my Father in Heaven would want me to do. I am currently sharing my faith with others in the Spokane area while I am serving my mission.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Curtis
While Christ and his Apostles were on the earth, his church and everything contained within in was established. However, when Christ and his Apostles were killed and driven away, the simple truths within the Gospel were changed and corrupted; no one on earth had the authority to run His church. As a result, His church fell into apostasy, or a falling away. People who claimed to act in God's name performed things that were not Divinely approved. The Bible had passages changed or removed, events like the Crusades and the Inquisition occurred, and many different denominations and faiths sprung up, most from the efforts of good men attempting to reform the church. With all of these events and changes made to His Gospel, there was need for a Restoration, not a reformation. Through Joseph Smith, the authority to run his church was restored to the earth, and the plain and precious truths taken from the Bible were brought back by the Book of Mormon, which works hand in hand with the Bible in testifying that Jesus is the Christ and that though him we can receive eternal life.
