Hi I'm Mariah

I love dancing, running, high jumping, and was the valedictorian for my high school Senior class. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love dancing, high jumping, running cross country, riding horses, learning new things, and hiking in my beautiful area. I love adventures! Any time that I have the opportunity to go cliff jumping, or ride in a helicopter, or scale a mountain, I have the time of my life. I am so grateful for my life and enjoy the little things as well. I just love being alive! I have been blessed to grow up in a small town with my grandparents and several of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family has always been emphasized in my life but I am just starting to realize how important it really is. Nothing else can bring you so much joy and security. I am going to miss doing all of these things and miss my family so much, but I have decided to give them up for 18 months as I serve a mission. I decided to serve a mission because the Lord has blessed me in so many ways and I know I need to try to repay that in any way I can, even though it can never fully be repaid. I love the gospel and I know that things work out eventually when you are following the teachings of the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but just like converts everyone has to have a time when they were converted or they don't stay in the church. I have had many reminders over the years and many spiritual experiences, but I would have to say that the most important thing to me is that I know that when I am a part of this church I am never truly alone. I know the Savior is always there for me. I can remember one time, when I didn't have many friends that I could go to, my parents and I were on bad terms, and I was just feeling so hopelessly alone. I wrestled with this feeling until one night it came to a head. I was crying and in despair when I felt someone embrace me. There was no one around, but I felt the embrace as clearly as if any person had been there. I knew that the Holy Ghost was there to comfort me and tell me that I was not alone and I was very distinctly reminded that the Savior knows what we are going through and is always there to help us when we let Him. That was quite a while ago, and I still have to work on my testimony every day, but I remember that and rely on it when I'm feeling extremely down. I also have a testimony of the temple and how wonderful it is. Growing up I didn't realize how amazing the peace it brings really is. It has brought comfort to me in more ways that one. I have also learned that when I am living the gospel, my life isn't perfect, I still have hard trials, but it sure goes a lot smoother than when I am trying to live my life according to my own standards.

How I live my faith

I used to be the leader of of several groups of young women and I really loved that opportunity to serve them and get to know them better. The past couple months since I have been out of high school, I have looked for ways to serve my community by volunteering etc. Like I said I live in a very small community so whenever their is a need, everyone comes together to help out. It brings such a feeling of love! For example, a couple years ago, there was a really big flood and it washed tons of mud onto the streets and into people's houses. I can remember being at work and my boss decided to close and let all of us go help put out sand bags to prevent more flooding. That day I probably saw almost everyone in the community out and helping in one way or another. There were so many people that it was actually quite fun and brought everyone a little closer together. Very soon, I will be headed out on my mission and I look forward to opportunities to serve there as well.
