Hi I'm Amanda Hurren Jones

I grew up in Charleston SC. I sing opera and surf. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a retired opera singer that recently moved back to South Carolina from Manhattan. Opera and music were my life. I was actually really in to punk rock music growing up and still really enjoy it, but I've studied classical music my whole life. After the birth of my daughter I realized that being a parent was the most important job and decided to quit opera. I now spend as much time as possible with my daughter and I surf with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe its true. By that I mean based on years of research, study, and prayer I now know that not only is there a God, but that He is a loving Heavenly Father, my Heavenly Father, who knows me personally and loves me with all His heart. I also now know that Jesus Christ was real and is real. I know that He lived on the earth and did all the miraculous things He did through divine power. I know that He loves me and suffered for my sins and was crucified for the world so that we might be able to repent, change our ways, and grow closer to God. I also believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, the same as Moses, Abraham, and all those that followed in the New and Old Testament. I have studied him thoroughly and then I prayed and asked God, like James tells us in the New Testament, James 1:5 "If any of ye lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." I asked and I felt those feelings mentioned in Galations 5:22-23. It actually happened. I felt so much peace about it. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet.

How I live my faith

When I moved back here I was asked to be a teacher in the Young Women's program which is a program for the youth girls ages 12-18. I was recently switched to Primary chorister, which is the singing time instructor for the children ages 3-12.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Amanda Hurren Jones
Absolutely. The New Testament is actually my favorite book of scripture. The Bible is extremely important because it is a record of the Lord's people in the "old world". Show more Show less
