Hi I'm Augustine

I absolutely love being a Mormon.

About Me

Singer, Dancer, Missionary

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family. I was taught from a very early age that God is my Father, and I am His daughter. It wasn't until I was about 12 or 13 that the impact of that message began to truly affect me. I realized that I really wanted to live with my Heavenly Father again someday. I wanted to live with my earthly family forever. I wanted everything that Christ's gospel taught. So I decided that I would try my best to achieve it. I made a resolution on New Year's to read my scriptures every day, and pray to my Heavenly Father for a testimony of their truthfulness. I have never felt more joy than by studying His word. Through that resolution I have come to know that I am a child of God. I know He loves me. I know He has a plan for me and my life. I know my family can be together forever because my parents were sealed by one with authority in God's sacred temple. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know He lives and watches over us all. I absolutely know that this is God's true church, restored to the earth by a 14-year-old boy who wanted to know the truth. I know that the only way to find out for yourself if this is the true church is to ask God. The Savior said, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matthew 7:20). Because I studied this church's fruits and wanted to know the truth, God answered my prayers. It means the world to me that He would care about me enough to answer. He cares about all of us enough to answer. So why not ask? :)

How I live my faith

I believe that we can share our faith through every aspect of our lives. I live my faith when I'm kind to my family, when I love those in need of comfort, and when I pray for those who may have hurt me. I believe that if we try to emulate Jesus Christ's example in every moment of our lives, we will grow closer to Him and become more like Him. My faith in Jesus Christ is my life. It is what keeps me going.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I don't think a general definition of "Mormon women" will describe every woman who belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every Mormon woman is different. But our faith in Jesus Christ creates a deep sense of hope and confidence about ourselves and our potential as daughters of God. I've never been happier than when I feel God's love for me. I know He is always here for me and I can rely on Him for everything. I think that is the main thing that differentiates Mormon women from other women: our belief in our Divine nature, that is, our potential to become like our Father in Heaven. That belief motivates everything we do. Mormons do believe in equality of men and women. If anything I have only ever felt empowered as a woman by my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that women and men must work in harmony and respect each other. We each have different responsibilities. Neither can fulfill their purpose without the other. Show more Show less
