Hi I'm Celestina

I'm of Italian/Spaniard descent, I love reading, writing, singing, laughing, Jazz, and R&B, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a student at Brigham Young University, and I have the time of my life playing and just living in the snow (having previously lived in Arizona, California, and New Mexico snow was more of a myth than a weather forecast). I started singing when I was about five years old and I haven't been able to stop, my talents lying in the Choral, Jazz, and Opera genres. I taught myself to read before I was in Preschool , and I haven't been able to stop reading either. (I found Harry Potter a bit later than most people, and I spent the summer when I was 15 holed up in my room all day and all night until I finished the entire series. How did J.K. Rowling create that masterpiece? Seriously guys. How.) I've written many short stories from a young age and am currently working on writing a book set in the time of Beowulf. I love writing stories. I dream of one day having a book of mine published. I also dream of becoming a Jazz singer. And an Opera singer. So I have a lot of dreams, hahaha. I have a little sister (I mean, she's only about a year younger than I am, but she's so short she'll always be my little sister) who I love to death but who also drives me crazy. My heritage is very important to me, and if I could take a vacation anywhere in the world I would go to Italy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I've seen the way this Gospel works in my life and in the lives of those who live it. As I follow the commandments Heavenly Father has given I see how it blesses my life and I come to learn more and more about my potential as a daughter of God. In times of trial I learn to trust in the Lord and learn that He is always there for me and always looking out for me. Though my family has always been faithful in the church and I liked going to church and agreed with the principles taught, I needed to find out for myself if The Book of Mormon and the church were true. In Matthew 21:22 we read, "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." After I read The Book of Mormon for the first time I knew I needed to kneel in prayer and ask my Father in Heaven if it was true. As I prayed fervently I felt such great emotion and I knew the Holy Ghost was confirming to me that The Book of Mormon was the word of God. As I grow older I strive to build my testimony and try to be a little bit better each day. I know as I do my best to follow the commandments the Lord has given to us through scripture and through prophets my family and I will be blessed and we will be able to live with our Heavenly Father once again.

How I live my faith

I've been called to serve as a Missionary in the Mexico Mexico City West Mission, and I am completely overjoyed . I've dreamed of serving a mission for my entire life, and now that it's actually happening I am so unbelievably excited I can't even begin tell you. In my home ward I work with the youth and try to help them realize how special they are and how much their Father in Heaven loves them. In my day to day life I've found that realizing you actually ARE a child of God is essential to staying strong and facing adversity head on. Sometimes it may seem as though God is some kind of vague being you don't know much about, even if you do believe in God. Your Heavenly Father IS a real person, He's REALLY there, and he loves you more than you can possibly imagine. To build my relationship with my Heavenly Father I do three main things: 1) I pray to Him Every. Single. Day. Your Father in Heaven loves you and wants to hear from you. He wants to know how you are, what your troubles are, what you're going through, what you need help with, and simply how your day has been. I talk to God the way I would talk to a close friend, for indeed he is my closest and dearest ally. Don't be afraid to reach out and talk to Him, for He is constantly reaching out and waiting to hear from you, His precious child. 2) I also read from the scriptures every single day. If praying is how we speak to God, it is said through the scriptures God speaks to us. In the many pages of the scriptures you will find the words of your loving Heavenly Father through mortal prophets who have been instructed to help you and strengthen you spiritually as you live. I know as I read from the scriptures I find the strength and faith of those who have lived before me inspiring and I treasure the instruction God gives us to help us be happy and return to Him. 3) I attend church each Sunday. As we join together and learn about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father we are uplifted and comforted.
