Hi I'm Abby

I went on a humanitarian trip to Ecuador. I am a missionary in Peru. I want to change the world. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 8. I am 1 of 6 kids, 2 boys, 4 girls. I have the privilege of being the oldest sister and second oldest child. I grew up on the east coast in the trees! I love music, the beach, exploring/learning, and I love art, especially ceramics. My favorite thing to do is make pottery on the wheel! I also love basketball and making new friends! I like to go on adventures to new places and try new things. One day I hope to go sky diving! I also love to travel, that is, after you endure the plane ride and customs and airport security. When I was 18 I went on a Humanitarian trip to Ecuador and was able to participate in building an orphanage while also working with the orphans themselves. Most of the Orphans had a disability, and it was hard to connect with them at first. As the trip went on, I can honestly say these kids changed my life. I will never forget them. I will always remember their incredible personalities and smiles. I truly fell in love with them. I am now serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am proud to wear this name because I know of the truthfulness of the gospel and the way it unites families. My life continues to get better as I know it is being blessed from my good choices.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to be born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through my teenage years, my faith in the church wasn't perfect, in fact, it was far from perfect. I am grateful for this time in my life when I could ask questions to know if I really do believe in the church. What is so cool about this church is that nobody is perfect, we are all progressing. I am a Mormon because I studied a learned for myself if the teachings and the Book of Mormon is true, this is how I was converted. I believe with my whole heart and I know that you cannot believe for yourself until you read The Book of Mormon and ask God.

How I live my faith

We have callings or responsibilities in the church and that is how I would say I live my faith. I have been a counselor a few times at our girls camp and I have even been a Youth Camp Director. I then attended BYU-Idaho where I had a few more responsibilities. I was a teacher there and realized through that calling how much I love to teach. I also live y faith by keeping the high standards we are instructed to maintain. Through my callings and responsibilities I hope that I would have helped other members in what I was trying to teach, but I know for sure that through these responsibilities I have in fact learned for myself and become a better teacher and public speaker. I feel like I was more successful in school because of these experiences. As for high standards, I can also say keeping these has blessed my life as I have seen close friends and family members quickly fall and lose themselves. I know that life is difficult and we all face challenges, but it is by making these choices as a live my faith that help me to do my part in keeping my life in order. Some things in life we cannot choose, but I know we will be much happier and stable if we choose the right at all times and let the rest fall into place. I can also say living my faith has made challenges in my life easier than if I were to not be living it. I know that everything happen for a reason, the good and the bad. I also know that I will be a happier person as a strive to live my faith.
