Hi I'm June

I grew up as an army brat living all over the world. I'm a musician. I'm raising some of my grandkids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a grandma who is raising 2 of my grandchildren. I finished my degree and started teaching school (3rd grade) in my 50's. I love sewing, scrapbooking, cooking, quilting, and creative endeavors. I love being a mother! I adopted 4 children because I couldn't have any of my own. Two of these children were older and came with a severe abuse history and have mental health issues. They are still "lost" as to finding their place in society. I've lived in many states and countries and learned to love various cultures and people.

Why I am a Mormon

I first became a Mormon because I was raised that way from childhood. But in my teens, I had a desire to know for myself about the truth. I visited various Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish faiths - playing the piano for many of their activities. I came to see that they had some truth, but not the complete truth. I decided to try the experiment in Moroni chapter 10. I read the Book of Mormon, praying to know of its truthfulness before each time I read. I pondered the teachings. I prayed about the things I was learning in my other church meetings, and came to know by a real power that it was true. Joseph Smith was a prophet, the Book of Mormon was true, and therefore the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was also true. The Lord speaks through his holy prophets now as he did in primitive times. As I have gained further experiences throughout my life, I have come to know more fully of its truth. Sacred experiences in the temple have allowed me to understand more before & after this life. I have come to appreciate the atonement of the Savior. I know that I am imperfect and struggle in many areas, but by joining forces with the Savior, I am perfected in Him and he makes up the difference and forgives me of my transgressions. I continue to struggle a battle with obesity, but I'm successful when I lean upon the Lord. I also continue to struggle a battle of inadequacy because some of my children have chosen a different path. They can't see how incomplete and sorrowful their lives are at this time. But by putting my faith and trust in the Lord, he will make all things work for their good. Agency is a great gift, but often brings sorrow. Once we come to know all things, we will choose with full knowledge if we want to be His. I will be happy with the choices of all my loved ones as they will be where they want to be, and I will be with my God, my Savior, and my husband in the Celestial Kingdom with all the rights and privileges manifest in the temples of our God.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church since I was 14 years old. Many times as a pianist or organist. But the greatest joy has come in serving the women of the church - especially in hard times. It has been my blessing to mourn with those who mourn, comfort those in need of comfort, and bear burdens with those who are heavy laden. Precious memories have come in helping to bury a loved one, ministering to one who is extremely ill, and providing food and shelter in emergencies. The Lord has given me an extra special witness of Him because I lost myself in His service. I have also served my community as a Girl Scout leader for many years, seeing my oldest daughter and her friends up through receiving their Gold Awards. As a pianist I have played for elementary school programs, high school programs, and other community events. I love to teach and have enjoyed teaching music to children. The children's songs have some of the greatest truths contained in them.
