Hi I'm Tyler J Curtis

I'm a born and raised Idahoan. I love to play the saxophone, strategy board games, and adore history. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a huge music fan! I love most different styles of music, especially jazz and classical, as I play the saxophone. I have always been fascinated with history throughout my life, especially US History, and this love has led me to my hobby of playing strategy board games. I have graduated from high school, and am now serving on an LDS Mission in Lake Wales, Florida, and am loving it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, but though at first I relied on what my parents told me, I knew and was told that I'd need to gain that same knowledge for myself. I read the Book of Mormon all the way through, and followed the promise at the end by a prophet to ask God if the book and its teachings are true, and that if we do so with a sincere heart, real intent, and faith, He will tell us if it is true. I kneeled down, prayed, and waited. Nothing. I didn't feel any sort of manifestation that it was true. But I believed in it, and knew that answers don't always come right after we ask. So I decided to read the Book of Mormon again. After finishing it, I followed the promise, prayed, and listened. Still nothing. I started wondering what I was doing wrong, and why nothing was coming. I chose to read the book again. It was during that third read through, that I realized that God had answered my prayers. My testimony hadn't come in a single marvelous moment. It had come line upon line, precept upon precept. I had learned by living the doctrine, as Christ discusses in John 7:17: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I know that He always answers our prayers, and that He always listens to us. Because He listened to me.

How I live my faith

I show my love for the Lord and His Son Jesus Christ by serving my fellow man! While I'm on my mission, I'll be able to share the good news of the gospel, and dedicate 2 years of my life to Heavenly Father. I try to learn about Him and then apply what I learn so I can become more like Him. With living the gospel of Jesus Christ, I've found that it is much more a gradual process after choosing to follow Him than a immediate change into a new person. As we pray everyday for help, and then do our best, we will not fail. A favorite saying I've heard is "Pray like everything depends on God, and then act like everything depends on you".
