Hi I'm Wyona

I grew up in Canada and moved to the United States at 19 years. We were a big family, living on a farm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as #8 in a family ten children. We lived on a farm and always new how to work and how to play together. My dad died when I was in the 8th grade, leaving my mom to raise the 5 youngest kids on her own. I graduation, I spent some time in nursing school and then moved to Texas where I met my husband. We have been married 54+ years, and have raised 4 daughters. We have 18 grand children and presently have 7 great grand children with several on the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Mormon church. When I was 19, I investigated other religions and decided that I should really investigate my own. When I read the Book of Mormon, I knew it was true, the word of God! I know Heavenly Father lives and His son, Jesus Christ, is my personal Savior. He loves each of us and knows us by name. I am grateful to Joseph Smith, who sought answers to his questions and was instrumental in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ as it was when he was on the earth. I know we have a living prophet today, and the Lord continues to direct His church here on the earth. I am so grateful for my temple marriage. I know my family will always be together in the eternities.

How I live my faith

I have served in the womens group, Primary organization for children, as a Sunday School worker, youth leader of girls 12-18. I have been the music chorister in the chilldren's and women's programs. My favorite calling was working with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. I learned to love boys (after being raised in a family of 9 girls and having 4 girls of my own). I camped in the snow and rain, hiked -- did it all! I found out that I could do about anything I set my mind to. I served 18 months at Deseret Industries, as a Rehabilitation Service Worker. It is a facility to help individuals become successful in everyday life. I helped clients become employable. I served 27 months in The Bishop's Storehouse which is a place which provides food and necessities for the needy. I am now going to serve in The Bishop's Storehouse in Houston, Texas for the next 18 months. I live every day of my life as a Latter0day Saint (or Mormon). It is the foundation of everything that I am and stand for. It is my guiding light.
