Hi I'm Nate Ashby

I was born in Utah and raised in Oregon and I love to go places! I enjoy sports and outdoor stuff. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Oregon and went to Aloha High School. I was real involved with the school through sports and leadership. I was also a co-chair for Kids Making Miracles, which is a group that raises money for Doernbecher Children's Hospital. I love sports and outdoors activities such as golf, snowboarding, soccer, basketball, and fishing. I'm a pre-med student studying neuroscience and plan to go to med-school! Last and very importantly, I have recieved a mission call to serve in the South Dakota mission, I feel so blessed to have the oppurtunity to represent our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family that was already LDS. I grew up loving the gospel but took for granted that it was true! There came a time when I needed to decide whether it was something I really believed, or just something that I was doing to please others. I had already been reading the Book of Mormon so I decided I needed to pray if it was true. It may be hard to understand unless you have done it, but I know that if you also read and pray to know if this church is true, you will. I don't doubt it one bit. God our Heavenly Father has promised us that if we obey the commandments we will be blessed in so many ways, whether in this life or the next. I know that if we put these two way promises to the test we will find so much joy and knowledge. Time and time again I have prayed for guidance and found answers. Little things have happened such as looking for a wallet for days, praying, and finding it in the next 30 seconds. But also big things have happened such as wanting to comfort someone who has lost a loved one, and finding the perfect scripture on the first page I turn to. I know that if anyone wants to come to this same knowledge all they have to do is read the Book of Mormon, pray to their Heavenly Father, and use the missionaries if needed. I know that the LDS church is the true and restored gospel that was on the Earth while Christ was here. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to true everlasting happiness!

How I live my faith

In Oregon I had many different calling and responsibilities and I loved all of them! I served as president over the 16-19 year olds (Priests) and a few other presidencies before that. I helped organized a 2 day youth conference for all the kids from 12-18 in our region (Stake). I was a group leader or "Pa" for a Mormon Pioneer Trek Simulation and Emceed the Hoedown on the last night! I sang in a Youth Choir called Encore and loved both practices and performances! Now I'm in a Young Single Adults ward and serve as the Executive Secretary. I help the Bishop, who's the ward leader, meet with ward members and direct the functions for the ward. On January 22nd I will be beginning my 2 year mission in the Mid-West states. I'm so excited and am working hard to make those the best 2 years of my life!
