Hi I'm Elizabeth Garces

I am a sister, student, concert lover & peanut butter eater. Volunteered in the orphanages in Ecuador. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in American Fork, Utah as the oldest of five siblings. I am half Venezuelan. I had the opportunity to live in Quito, Ecuador and work in the orphanages where I learned that giving service to others is where I have found complete love and happiness. Traveling is my passion. I am an avid blogger interning with Nordstrom & Shabby Apple incorporating social media. I love being able to create and inspire through art and writing. I am blessed with the opportunity to attend Brigham Young University and plan to attend Law School. I love being part of an atmosphere where I am surrounded by people who share my same beliefs and standards. I love love love meeting new people, chocolate & peanut butter ice cream, dancing & yoga. Addicted to my planner & concerts. I connect through music. The gospel brings so much happiness to my life. I have recently received my mission call to Chile, Concepcion leaving in March 2014. I am beyond happy to serve the Lord and the people in Chile.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because of the happiness, peace and direction that the gospel gives me. In a world where pain and long suffering is present and often pounding at our doors, Christ is our safe haven. Christ is always there with open arms waiting for us to come unto him. The Savior is our ultimate teacher, comforter and listener. This gospel is so pure and perfect. The gospel is unchanging and complete. The Savior has given us the ultimate gift of the Atonement. I know that as I continually strive to become more Christ-like I can experience great blessings. I am Mormon because of the guidance I receive to help me make choices in my life. God knows has a plan for each of us that will bring us complete happiness. Even when I don’t know my next step in life, I can pray to God to help me understand my purpose and my plan. I know without a doubt that following the example of Christ has brought me pure happiness. For the blessed life I have been given, I am giving Him 18 months of my life to bring his children to the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living a Christ centered life. I am a firm believer that following the example of Christ we will continually find peace and happiness. Philippians 4:13, " I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". Christ will continue to be an anchor of peace and happiness in our life as long as we look for Him in all that we do. I believe that ultimate happiness comes from providing service to those the Lord and those around us. This summer as I had the opportunity to serve the sweet little children in Ecuador I was given glimpses of the pure love of Christ that He has for each one of His children. These little children taught me what it means to be completely happy and feel pure love. I was able to connect to Christ as I began to understand how much Christ loves and cares for each one of His children. As I am getting close to serving a mission in Chile, I often think of those people out there whom desire the gospel in their life. I am preparing myself through constantly having faith in Christ. I read my scriptures, attend the temple, and pray multiple times a day so that I will be able to touch the hearts.
