Hi I'm Austin

I grew up in Indiana. I love to learn, laugh, and play guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Virginia but have lived and grown up in Southern Indiana since I was five. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I love music and I've played guitar since I was seven. I love the outdoors and activities like hiking and climbing. I'm currently serving a mission for the church in Boise, ID from January 2014 - December 2015. After my mission, I plan to finish my college education.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is truly the Lord's kingdom established on the earth today. I believe in the sacred priesthood power that has been restored to the earth and the essential ordinances that must be performed by it. I have read and gained a testimony of the divinity of the Book of Mormon and have seen how its teachings have helped make me a better person and strengthen my testimony of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving each and every day to maintain and grow my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Scripture study and prayer are the foundations upon which I strive to live and grow my faith. In my home ward, I am in charge of the 11 year old boys during Wednesday night scout activities, and I teach a Sunday School class each week during our 3 hour Sunday meeting block. I go out with the missionaries in our ward and assist them in teaching lessons to help prepare myself for serving my own mission beginning January 2014. I strive to be kind, friendly, and helpful to all who I interact with daily.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Austin
Members of the church are asked to give 10% of their income to the Church for several reasons. It helps fund missionaries all over the world, who are devoting their time to helping to build the Lord's kingdom on earth. It helps fund the building of temples and meetinghouses all over the world so that we, as members, have places to worship and perform sacred ordinances. Not the least of many reasons that could be listed, it gives us as members yet another chance to be obedient to the Lord and receive blessings from Him. Show more Show less
