Hi I'm Matt

I am a musician. I am a convert. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised with a loving knowledge of God and Jesus Christ, though I never attended Church until my senior year of high school. I converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in May of 2012, and I have loved every day of my membership. In January of 2014, I will begin my 24 month mission in the Mexico, Mexico City South mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been raised somewhat Christian, I always had a feeling that there was more out there. I never knew what that meant though. In my Junior year of high school, I began dating a nice young woman, who happened to be a member. A month into our relationship, she told me that her friends from Church wanted to meet me. I eventually went with her to seminary, where high school students go before or after school to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I immediately fell in love with what I was learning. I began taking the lessons with the missionaries, and I had such a deep desire to be baptized. I felt like the piece of my life that was always missing was just filled in. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its truth. I received my answer through prayer, and that answer was clear: the Book of Mormon is truly Another Testament of Jesus Christ. My parents, however, were not nearly as enthused. I continued attending church and taking the missionary lessons for over a year, and my 18th birthday loomed closer. Eventually, my parents recognized how deep my desire to be baptized truly was, and they allowed me to be baptized on May 12, 2012. I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I testify that Joseph Smith did see our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ, in the Sacred Grove. I testify that he was a true prophet, and that Thomas S. Monson is our true prophet today. I testify of these truths in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

In my Young Single Adult Ward, I currently hold the calling of Ward Mission Leader. My duty as such is to connect the missionaries in our ward to the members of the ward. Every week, I meet with the bishopric and the missionaries to receive an update on the progress of those people that the missionaries are teaching. I then try to find ways that we can better help those "investigators" to further their progress and love of God.
