Hi I'm Starlee

I'm a college student studying event planning. I work with flowers & love a good adventure. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying events and nonprofit management. I thrive off of the excitement of learning and experiencing new things. I had the opportunity to be an intern & live in Washington, D.C., and fell in love with the east coast of the United States. I think there is nothing that compares to a long run or a happy heart! I have trained for and ran in a half marathon and a couple of team relays. I love the challenge, and the memories of running with friends. I am the oldest of four children. I grew up in a family that loves football, ice cream, and goofing around. My favorite times in my life are memories that I cherish with my family. I have spent the past couple years working at a flower shop, and now I am a teaching assistant for the design class on my campus. There is nothing more fun than being able to create beautiful things out of simple materials. I try to live by Joseph B. Wirthlin's quote, "Come what may, and love it."

Why I am a Mormon

My two greatest loves are my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I look at my life, it is clear to me that all that I am is because of my knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ and his gospel! His gospel is the motivation behind all of my decisions, and He is the strength that moves me to make the most of life's opportunities, and accomplish everyday with a smile. There is a love, a hope, and an optimistic view of life that I feel from my testimony of Christ's gospel, that compares to no other source. Jesus Christ gave his life for us to be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father again. He came and gave us the perfect example to follow, and a means by which we can return, through repentance. I know that our earthly existence is the time for us to chose prepare to meet God by following Christ's example. This knowledge helps to refocus me everyday on the things that really matter. The peace that comes with this message, is something I try to keep with me all the time. This peace is my strength and source of healing in any moment of stress or worry. My testimony has helped me to develop an eternal perspective of life. This perspective has helped me to understand God's love for me, and equally his love for everyone. With this understanding, a desire has grown in me to help others understand and feel of that love. God's love for us is constant and true. I know that the peace, comfort, and direction I feel in my life comes directly from him as I try to follow his commandments. I have seen the difference the gospel has made in my life, and the impact it has had on changing the hearts and blessing the lives of those around me.

How I live my faith

I love thinking of the idea that every choice I make in each day will shape my forever. Choosing to be happy, seeing the good in each day, and every person is something I try to do. I feel a lot better when I try to do those things and focus on making good decisions. There is something to be said about the small and simple things in life. I think that small consistent actions everyday will shape who we are. I participate in my ward by planning simple Sunday night gatherings for the single adults in my area. It gives everyone an opportunity to get to know each other better and feel united in a purpose. It helps us to stay focused on keeping Sundays a special day of the week. It is a way that I can dedicated some of my time and show my dedication and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also have the opportunity to be a visiting teacher, and a member of the women's organization, the Relief Society. I visit a couple of other women in the ward during each month. It is a great opportunity to strengthen each other in the gospel, and learn more about what is happening in our lives. It is a great opportunity to serve, and to feel God's love for people.
