Hi I'm Anthony Porter

I grew up in the United States as a member of the Church, and I am now going to school at Brigham Young University at Idaho.

About Me

I am 21 years old and I am serving a mission for two years in the Texas Houston Mission, before my mission I loved to go snowboarding and snowmobiling every chance I got and in the summer I enjoyed golfing and swimming, and all year around it is movies and music. I have been a member of the church for my entire life, my grandparents on both sides of my family was converted to the gospel and through the gospel my family came together. I love this church because it is the only thing that brings me true peace and joy in this life and I know my purpose here in life and what is to happen to me after this life and that brings me so much comfort and happiness. because of this I am on my mission to share with all that will hear me, the gospel and how believing and following Christ's example can bring them all the great things in life and in the life after this. I believe it with all my heart and with that I will never let it go instead I will make it known to all as I have been asked by my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because the teachings that are given in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon are the word of God and are given to us so we can prove our self's worthy to our Heavenly Father, Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he gave his life to translate and restore Christ gospel on this earth, and it is the only true gospel on the earth, God loves all his children and wants them all to know of His gospel and to become closer to Him through faith in Him and His Son Jesus Christ, by repenting of our sins and being baptized in His name by one holding the authority to do so, and if we do these things and receive the gift of the holy Ghost and endure to the end we will have life with our families and with God forever in eternal life. We are given so many chances to repent and ask forgiveness for the mistakes we make and if we faithfully repent and follow the plan and teachings that have been given to us through scriptures and through prophets of God, God will grant us eternal life, which is the greatest gift God can give. We have the agency to choose for our self's what path to follow either a path of sin or a path of righteousness. but we need to always remember that God is over all and if it does not please him than you should not be doing it. I found the path to God and now as a member and a finder of the truth I make it my goal and my responsibility to share it. Give it a chance and it will change your life for the better.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by continually attending church and worshiping my Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ through daily scripture study and praying in thanks and appreciation. I have served many callings in the church and I continually strive to fulfill them with every effort. But the way that I as a member live my faith the most is I am sharing it with everyone and giving them the opportunity to come closer too Christ, and I do this through family and friends and most of all serving as of missionary. Living your faith is very important it shows that you truly believe in the Church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Anthony Porter
We do not worship Joseph Smith, he is a prophet called by God to restore his gospel because it was not on the earth at that time. But God is who we as members of the church and who Joseph Smith worshiped so faithfully, there is only one god and none above him. Joseph Smith was a amazing man and he did more for the salvation of man except for Jesus Christ. But God is still and will always be over all. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Anthony Porter
We are given these guidelines because God told us not to partake of these things, we are to treat our bodies as temples of the Lord. If you have ever seen a Temple that a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints they are beautiful. That is the way we should keep our bodies. Which includes no alcohol, tobacco, drugs of any kind, coffee, and tea. Basically it is anything that would hurt or become addicting to the body. The Lord has always given health restrictions thorough out the scriptures for certain reasons, he has given us the Word of Wisdom so that we can partake of His spirit and be free to choose at all times.
