Hi I'm Jim Bryant

Grew up in California. Converted in Germany. Lived most of my life in Georgia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Retired from civil service (worked most of my years for the Navy). Graduated from BYU in 1985 (I was there when they won the National Championship!). Had a short second career with the Boy Scouts of America (just retired - again - from that). My wife and I run an eBay store - she shops while I play golf, so we both win. We're both into music, so we sing in the choir, used to participate in a community chorus. I play guitar and drums and a little piano. I enjoy acting in the local community theatre and have also directed several shows.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Baptist church. My mother's family includes a long line of Baptist preachers. But as a troubled teenager, her church was not fulfilling my spiritual needs. When I was finally exposed to the LDS Church, everything just fell into place. The Gospel made sense to me for the first time in my life. The missionaries answered all my questions and the Holy Ghost witnessed to me that it was all true.

How I live my faith

Having recently retired from the Boy Scouts, I'm still very active as a volunteer, serving as our District Training Chairman, as well as helping the Ward's Boy Scout troop. Because the Council's executive director knows of my faith, he often discusses LDS Scouting with me and we work together to bring the Scouting program to Mormon scouts. I'm currently serving as the Ward Membership Clerk and I'm often called upon to lead the music for Sacrament and Priesthood meetings. Being retired, I have more opportunities to go with the full-time missionaries as they teach.
