Hi I'm Raetchel

I grew up everywhere with the military. I'm currently serving an LDS mission in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Raetchel. I'm currently taking a break from college to serve an 18-month mission in California. I love my family and love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I dream big and have many adventures planned, but I also love the comfort of home. I love to laugh and have fun! In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, and ballroom dance. I was born in Germany while my parents were stationed there with the Army. We've been back a few times (both to live and visit), and I speak German. I love to travel, but I don't get to as much as I would like. Like I said, I have some fun adventures planned, though, and I can't wait to see what life brings. It's a great day to be alive!

Why I am a Mormon

I may be young, but I have been uniquely blessed to be raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love the church and the happiness and blessings it brings to me and those around me. The further I continue in this Gospel and this life and the more that I learn about the Lord's plan for us, the happier and more hopeful I become. The Lord knows each one of us and I know that He cares for us and has a unique path for us. It's exciting to know that He is there watching over us and that we can grow closer to Him through everything we do. He blesses us through our faith and our obedience in helping His children know of His love for them. I know that we can live our lives knowing that we are special to Him. We are beautiful to Him. He loves us and wants nothing for us but to be as happy as we can be, even when that means going through some painful things in this life. I know that everything is for our good and that we will come off better for it all. I know that I have and will continue to be blessed by the people, situations, and trials He puts in my life. I trust His plan and His love for me.

How I live my faith

At the moment, I get to live my faith by spending my time serving the Lord as a missionary. I love to meet more of the Lord's children and come to see the beauty in everyone. I've been in many ward communities and they are like second families. We get very close as we teach, help, and have fun with each other. I loved getting to be a Family History Instructor as I love the puzzle of family history and teaching it to others. The visiting teaching and home teaching programs are very special to me as we get to spend our time making friends, uplifting others, and helping ourselves in the process. We learn that every person is a special child to our Father in Heaven. I enjoy volunteering in special events with the ward. There is always something you can do to bless the lives of others.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Family is the most important community/unit on Earth. Family is very important to us as Mormons and we make it a point to spend time with each other through many activities including "Family Home Evenings" where we set aside one night a week to spend specifically with our families singing, praying, playing games, and making memories. The Lord loves His children, so He gave us a way that we can live with our families forever. In Matthew 16:19 Christ gave Peter the power to "seal" families. That power was restored on the Earth again and we believe that families can be sealed together for eternity in the Lord's holy temples.I love my family! I am so glad that I can be with them for forever and that my future marriage and family relationships will not end at death. Show more Show less
