Hi I'm Jennie

I'm a San Diego girl. I love music, being active and having fun. I'm a geek by profession. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Until three months ago, you couldn't pry me from my San Diego county roots. I grew up in the perfect city, Vista, California. I'm the type of person that believes they can do anything and for that reason, I have done a lot of fun and random things in my life. I grew up playing sports and performing. I performed in plays and sang my whole childhood. I have four brothers who terrorized me, and I did my fair share of terrorizing them. I am competitive and love competitive sports. I loved the cul de sac that I grew up on, where we played football, basketball, or capture the flag, or exploring uncharted territories. The purchase of a bicycle when I was a child increased my independence; I would ride anywhere and everywhere. Those things have extended into my adulthood. I am often found on my bike, or playing sports, and if not that, than I am geeking out with a new tech project. I will try pretty much anything once and hopefully learn never to do it again. I traveled from San Diego to Albany, New York by Greyhound bus. I've scooted a Razor scooter all over San Francisco and a number of other cities in the Bay area. I went to school initially for computer animation and ended up in computer/system administration. I started a business when I was eighteen making choral rehearsal tracks. My next adventure will probably be cycling south from Utah to San Diego in the Spring.

Why I am a Mormon

In 2007, I sat in the back of a church building during a worship service and decided I was going to go on a mission. This is something I had always wanted to do, but it was always in the future. I was becoming very successful in my line of work and was enjoying my early twenties. As I sat there, I began to crunch the numbers and see how I could save for such an adventure. I decided in one year from that date that I would serve a mission for God. I suppose, I didn't really know what that meant, but it was my plan. As that year progressed, I saw how God was making my plan possible. Many miracles came into my life, including most significantly financial blessings that made it possible for me to leave my life behind and embark on an adventure. I served for eighteen months, out of my normal life, with the people in Germany. This experience changed my life. I came to realize most significantly what faith means. I know that God lives and that I am His daughter. I find hope that His plan is for me to experience this mortality and make mistakes and learn so that I can return to Him, only greater than I was. That can be very discouraging. It has always been hard for me to not be perfect and I came to understand that through the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ, I can be made perfect. I know these things, because of the efforts that I have made to find out. I know that God has had a hand in helping me to see His plan more clearly as I wade through this life and the struggles that arise. In my service to God, He has shown me that His way brings joy and happiness greater than anything else in this life. I love Him!

How I live my faith

For the last four years, I have served with the young adult community in Vista, California, helping young single women understand their true identities as women of God, as daughters of God. There is nothing more beautiful to me than watching people change. That has been an inspiration for me to continue to change my own life and be better. I do my best to make an effort where I am, to help others to realize their true potential whether inside or outside of our church building. I do my best to find ways to serve those around me, to believe in them and to encourage them to become better. This has been a significant blessing in my life.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

I think the greatest thing we can achieve in this life is being under the constant influence of the Holy Spirit. As we strive to know God and to seek after His ways, we can learn of His desire that we be baptized. As we enter in by the way/gate (baptism), we are given one of God's greatest gifts: the Gift of the Holy Ghost. With the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, we have the opportunity to seek and receive personal revelation and become improved. There are many blessings we can receive through this gift. In the Book of Mormon, we learn, "[we] may know the truth of all things.(Moroni 10:5)". We learn that as we pray always, our actions will be consecrated and "our performance will be for the welfare of our soul." Those two blessings alone seem like things that people would go to the ends of the Earth to find and yet you needn't go far. As we seek for the companionship of the Holy Ghost, God blesses us with the capacity to love more fully and as the Beatles have profoundly said, "All you need is love". The blessings of the gift of the Holy Ghost are indispensable. Show more Show less
