Hi I'm Sarah Bushnell

I'm a California girl. I love sports; I love the beach; I love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Sarah! I was born and raised in California and I absolutely love the sun and the beach. I love the laid back atmosphere of the sandy beach, but my favorite part of it is the ocean. I am the 7th of 8 kids and I love my big, crazy, loud family!! We are all pretty active, fun, and athletic. I definitely love playing and watching sports and my favorite to watch is football. When I was little I played just about every sport, but when I got to high school I settled into swimming and water polo. You will almost always find me in the water whether it's at the beach enjoying the waves, relaxing in the pool with friends, or swimming competitively in college. My favorite thing to do is spend time with the people I love and care about. That's why I love knowing that I can be with my family forever. I'm always social and active but I do enjoy a nice lazy day here or there.

Why I am a Mormon

There is a point in your life where you have to develop your own beliefs, challenge what you believe to be true, and find out the truth for yourself. I am a Mormon because I have tried it out and found The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be true. When I live the principles of the church I am not only truly happy, but also I become a better person, more Christlike. I know I have a Father in Heaven who loves me; I love Him and desire to grow closer to Him and this is how I do it. Richard G. Scott once said, “Prayer is a supernal gift of our Father in Heaven to every soul. Think of it: the absolute Supreme Being, the most all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful personage, encourages you and me, as insignificant as we are, to converse with Him as our Father.” I love this because I know it's true. He knows everything, knows me, loves me, and just wants me to be happy and be with Him. Isn’t that wonderful? Knowing this, how could I not want to talk to Him? To share with Him my joy, to ask Him what He would have me do, and to express my struggles and seek guidance and help from Him? I know He is there for me and through His son, Jesus Christ, who suffered for me and has felt everything I have felt so He can help me overcome it, I can be saved and I can be like Him. This is why I am a Mormon. Because it is who I am, it helps me be a happier and better person, it helps me grow closer to God, and I have found out for myself that it is true and the right thing to do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by taking what I am taught in church and applying it to my life and to myself. I try to be an example of what I believe. I don't believe in just going to church once a week and forgetting about it for the other six days. This church teaches so many principles that, if you really believe, you have to apply them to your life. For example, if I learn that Christ was patient and that we are supposed to be like him, then I try my best to be patient. Not just on Sunday, but always. I love studying all the different elements of the Church so that I can apply them to my life. For a while, I was asked to teach a Gospel Doctrine class during Church. I loved this not because I thought I knew everything and wanted to tell people what to do, but because I learned so much from it. I am still learning so much. Even as a missionary in Australia, where I devote all of my time and effort to serving the Lord and sharing His message of love with His children, I am still learning new things each day and I love it.
