Hi I'm Christian

I'm an accounting major. I'm a friend. I'm a leader. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life! I wake up each day excited for the opportunity to work, learn, and improve. I strive to become a better person each day. I constantly look for ways that I can brighten the lives of others as well. I love smiling at, waving to, and talking with everyone I see during the day. There are so many amazing people that I have come to know during this life. I am so blessed with a good family and great friends who encourage me to be my best and do what I love. I love numbers and business. I am currently majoring in accounting, and I hope to work for a big accounting firm after school. I work hard to learn as much as I can, but that doesn't mean I always have my nose buried in accounting books! I love being involved too. In high school I participated in student government, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, choir, and tennis. Now that I am in college, I do many of the same things. I participate in student government at the business school, in honors societies like Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key, and in service organizations that serve the students and the community. I love these activities for two reasons. First, I develop talents like leadership, teamwork, work ethic, and compassion. Second, I meet so many wonderful people. I have and will continue to make some of my best friends through these activities. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the beliefs and values of the Mormon Church. Some of my friends who aren't members say that the beliefs and values of the Mormon Church are restrictive and they take away your freedom. I disagree with them every time. If anything the Mormon Church has given me more freedom. One of the values in the church is the Word of Wisdom (WoW), which says we shouldn't drink alcohol, use tobacco, use drugs, drink coffee, or drink tea. This standard was revealed from God to Joseph Smith in 1833, long before science would prove these substances are actually harmful. By following the WoW, I have abstained from these substances. Even though I've made mistakes, the WoW has given me more motivation to stay away from these things. Many of my relatives were alcoholics, and I would probably be like them without the WoW. It's easy to see that the WoW, by protecting us from substances that our bodies could easily become addicted to, isn't a restrictive value, but truly one that gives you more freedom. The WoW isn't the only value I love. I love the emphasis the Church places on families. Families can be together forever! Knowing that my family can be together forever brings so much peace to my life. I don't have to worry about death because I know where I will go. There is more. This life isn't the end! I know that we are all sons and daughters of God, and that he loves each of us equally. This knowledge helps me treat others with love. The Gospel brings incredible peace and joy to my life.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is the perfect example of love. I pattern my life after his and strive to do the things he would. In the Bible and in the Book of Mormon we see that Jesus constantly serves others. For that reason, I decided I would serve others in any way I could. In a few months I will leave on a two year mission for the Church. For 24 months I will serve others and teach them about Jesus Christ. I am so excited to leave my own life behind so I can represent Jesus. I am preparing for my mission by serving in my Mormon congregation. The calling or duty I have in this congregation is very special to me. It's my job to seek after the individuals who have stopped coming to church and invite them to come back. My job is so easy because all I have to do is tell the truth. I tell the individuals how much the congregation misses them, and how much we want them to come back. I also invite individuals who aren't Mormon to learn about our church and come to all of the fun activities we have. I love fulfilling this calling because I am constantly serving others, and I know I am also serving the Lord. I really love Matthew 25:40 because it helps me realize how important the service I perform really is: "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Service is a huge part of our faith, and that's one of the main ways I live my faith.
