Hi I'm Garrett Porter

I love the outdoors. I am involved the the sport of Parkour and Freerunning. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I spend a lot of my time outdoors, either hiking, kayaking, or looking at the world like its a giant playground. Parkour and Freerunning is a very active sport that I really enjoy, it's basically gymnastics for the outdoors, except there are not any judges. It's all free motion limited only to your desires and creativity. I love to play the guitar, I wish I could beatbox, I love spending time with my family, when I go to college I plan on getting a business major and hope to one day become an entrepreneur, and my current average game of bowling is 140 with a high of 172.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself the joy that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings. Sometimes life is just flat out hard, and I have spent a great deal of time on my knees and in scripture looking for direction. I have found that direction with the teachings and beliefs of the LDS church. When you do something right, you are filled with the power of the spirit telling you good job, this is the right path. The more I stay true to the commandments of our savior Jesus Christ, the more I am filled with this spirit. I was raised in the LDS faith but that does not mean I did not have to fight for my own testimony, I have learned for myself that this is the true church and that I am headed in a direction in my life that would make my Heavenly Father proud. I know that Jesus Christ has paid the price of the atonement for me, and all those who choose to except him. I know that our Heavenly Father has set up a plan for us to return to live with him again for eternity, as long as we follow his commandments. I know that he has set a prophet upon this earth today to guide and direct us. I know all of these things through the conformation of the spirit in personal prayer and studying of the holy scripture put on this earth to guide us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to serve a two year LDS mission to Australia, which I am very excited about. I love to serve those around me, whenever I find an opportunity to help someone out I try to make sure I do my best to help them. My friend and I always try to make our cashiers smile once before we leave the store of wherever we are shopping in hope of trying to brighten someones day. I participate in family activities that help us to learn and grow as a family. As we spend time with each other we begin to understand and recognize their needs, which helps us to help them with our talents and hard work. I like to show my love for my family by helping them with simple everyday problems and when possible I like to help them understand the gospel of Jesus Christ more fully. I spend a lot of time in personal study of the scriptures to more fully recognize my duty here on earth and how I can become more like Jesus Christ. I also spend time on my knees to confirm with the spirit that what I am learning and teaching is true. I am going to spend the next two years of my life in a foreign country inviting others to come unto Christ and experience the same joy that i experience everyday of my life.
