Hi I'm Gabi

I am an individual, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I am 20 years old, going to college, and loving my life. I have a passion for photography, which inspired me to create my own photography company when I was 15 years old. I love music and participate in school and church choirs. I love children, and have a special place in my heart for those with disabilities. I am currently going to school to be a behavioral therapist and teacher assisstant. My father was born in Guam, and is a strong Catholic. And my mother was raised Mormon, but left the church at a young age. I was raised by my Mormon grandparents in Southern California.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a good relationship with my family and a wonderful relationship with my Heavenly Father. However, it has not always been this easy. My rebellious teenage years were more rebellious than was neccesary. I had a hard time believing my Heavenly Father loved me and essentially turned my back on him. He however, never turned His back on me. When I was at the lowest of my lows, two wonderful Christian girls from the young singles church group, who I did not know, came and invited me to church. Scared that I was not good enough, I declined. They continued to ask me to lunch, activities, and church. I would go to lunch with them, as it was non-threatening and not church related. Slowly, I attended activities and realized that no one was judging me. Rather than judge me as a mistake of the world, they all accepted who I was as a daughter of God. Their Christ-like examples helped me turn to my Savior Jesus Christ and now I know He is there and loves me too.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of a young single adult church group in my area. In our congregation, I enjoy serving and being able to reach out to people and share my love and faith in Jesus Christ. Being a part of my church group has introduced me to so many Christ-like people and has shown me that sharing my beliefs with others is not that scary. As a child, watching my grandmother serve with such compassion and devotion was very daunting and I always thought I would never be good enough to do things like she does. The Lord has shown me that not only am I more capable than I originally thought, but that I have talents I never dreamed of possessing.
