Hi I'm Lyman

I'm a failed poet. I'm a creator/destroyer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born in Boston, raised in San Diego, but now serving a mission in Ukraine. I am studying Philosophy and Russian at university and hope to go on to obtain a graduate degree. I take photographs and write sundry lists. I find liberty in simplicity.

Why I am a Mormon

In my youth, I had heard of a Jesus Christ that had come to save mankind. Yet, his existence, real or fabricated, held no weight in my self-centered adolescence. With time, I was confronted with the polarizing question of his reality. Either he was or wasn’t. I eluded the question as best as I could, but to no avail. Finding no solace in the wisdom of the world, I turned to my patient Heavenly Father in prayer for an answer that could stand still amidst such diverse opinions. It came, slowly, into focus. I began to unfold. All my pride, contumacy, and experience conceded to this one great truth. That Jesus Christ came to earth, paid the ransom of man’s mortality, and rose on the third day. He prepared the Father’s plan of happiness and anxiously waits for us to come unto him and, through his sacrifice, partake of eternal life. I know He lives and I know that the Book of Mormon is the evidence of His reality. Using a similar pattern of study, thought, and divine petition I came to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that following of the words of prophets both ancient and modern I can live a truly fulfilling and purposeful life, with joy unmeasurable.

How I live my faith

Frequent and meaningful communication with my Heavenly Father allows me to see things with greater clarity and enables me to do as the Savior did and serve others. I love to study the Master’s life and ministry, and make use of his atonement through daily repentance; sharing the fruits of my repentance generously with all.
