Hi I'm Matthew Hilton

I'm currently serving a mission in the Pocatello, Idaho Mission, I'm Born and raised in Texas, and I'm a stormin' Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of four children. I've got a brother and two sisters and a wonderful mother and father. i was born in Texas but spent the first five years of my life in Michigan, and now I'm back in Texas again. with the wonderful help of my mother, and the churches programs and dealings with Boy Scouts, i was able to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. i enjoy a plethora of things including hanging out with my friends, going fishing in Alaska, video games, riding dirt-bikes and quads, and anything pertaining to cars. i hunger for knowledge for anything technology related and i look forward to the future. when i finish my mission i plan on pursuing a career in mechanical, electrical or systems engineering, hopefully at Texas A&M or perhaps BYU-I.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life i have began the realize some of the infinite importance and depth of the atonement of Jesus Christ. Before i left on my mission i had several personal experiences that led me to developing my testimony of our Heavenly Father and the restored Gospel. Unfortunately it was my pride that got in the way of my spiritual growth and prevented those personal experiences from helping me make good choices. For about 3 of the four years of my high school career, I would have considered myself less-active because I was just going through the motions and not allowing the spirit to touch my stubborn, hardened heart. I went to church just to please my parents. My senior year I found myself in the need of relief from my past sins and transgressions, and from the heavy burden of depression that had taken over my life. through the atonement, i was able to be forgiven of my past and start a new life. the atonement is infinite. it covers everything we have ever felt, heard and seen as well as every pain and every sin and transgression we have committed. The atonement is what got me through my depression and eventually what caused it to be diminished entirely. In order to apply the atonement, we have to let go of our pride and the natural man so the spirit can heal us. The master potter created us; If we break, he knows us well enough to fix us. with my burden lifted off of my shoulders, i decided to thrust in my sickle and go on a mission to help others find the truth and feel the happiness that i have found from the restored gospel and my simple but growing understanding of the atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

the restored gospel has been the best blessing in my entire life. it has allowed me to find the values and guidance that our Heavenly Father wishes for us to have, and to find my way back to him. I am currently a missionary for the church serving in the south-eastern portion of Idaho called the Idaho Pocatello Mission. i love serving my mission so far, and as of May 27th, 2014 I have been out for 8 months! being on a mission has showed me how I am to live my life from this point on and how to share the gospel with others for when i come home. before i left i was engaged in hometeaching and found how the gospel blesses other members of the church. hometeaching has helped increase my testimony considerably. i learned that performing service for others has also helped me become a more faithful member of the church. as the scriptures say "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
