Hi I'm Clayton

I lived in Missouri most of my life, then moved to Utah for college. While here I learned of the church and was baptized

About Me

I was baptized on December 1, 2012 at age 19. I never knew how happy the gospel could make me. I was baptized as a catholic when I was a baby, but I was never very religious. I remember telling myself that I wanted to go to church every week, but I never had the motivation or the determination to go. I know spend almost 5 hours at church every week.

Why I am a Mormon

When I first moved out here to Utah, I never saw myself going to church every Sunday. I pictured myself having fun and living the "college life" and moving back to Florida when I graduated. I still have fun, just not the same ways that other college students do around the country. Moving here was the best decision in my life. I was blessed with having 2 missionaries come to my apartment while I was home and them asking me a couple of questions about myself. I didn't really know a whole lot, well anything, about the church so I figured I might as well see and hear what they believe in. When I was taking the discussions, I was a little skeptical about Joseph Smith being a prophet. But I am a pretty open-minded person and I am willing to listen to what other people have to say, especially about a religion I didn't understand. But while riding in the car with one of my now best friends, he asked me what I noticed about the members of the church that sets them apart from everybody else, and my response was that everybody seemed happier. I really wanted that same happiness they had, so badly. That was the moment I first felt the Spirit. I knew that I could have that happiness and direction in my life if I would follow the teachings of Christ. Our Heavenly Father wants what is best for us, so he gives us what we need, exactly when we need it. And I know that the reason we live up to the standards we have is because our Father in Heaven loves each and every one of us so much and he expects us to love our bodies that we have and treat them well while here in this mortal life. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, I know that prayer is real and that if you will kneel down at your bed and pray to God, thanking him for all the many blessings you have and asking him to help you with an question you have, he will answer it for you, but you can't be too eager for the answer, he will give it to you exactly when you need it. I love this gospel and I love our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I am on the ward missionary council in my young single adult ward. With this calling, it is my responsibility to bring friends, family, and others who are ready to hear the teachings of Jesus Christ. I also help with inactive members to help serve them any way I can. It is my duty to help others in any way I can.
