Hi I'm Charis

I'm a wife, a mom, and a sister among other things, but mostly I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah while my dad was stationed as a recruiter for the Navy in Utah. We moved to Arkansas when I was too young to remember. I grew up in a family of all girls and dreamed of playing the trumpet in an orchestra. Fast forward 30 years... Now I'm a mom and a wife and wouldn't have it any other way! I got my BS in Psychology and shortly after met my hubby on an online dating site. One step-child and two children of my own and I'm loving life. I love to dance and sing. Most recently I've discovered that I have a love of sugar art...I love baking cakes and decorating them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to the Mormon church. However, there have been many times in my life where I thought, "Are you sure about this?" I've prayed, been to other churches, studied and prayed some more. Every time I ask God, he sends me back to this church. One of the biggest things that keeps me coming to the Mormon church is knowing that there is a Prophet of God on the earth today. Just like Moses, Abraham, Peter and other prophets, there is one on this earth that receives revelation for the entire church to guide God's people back to him. In connection with that, is the knowledge that God has restored his priesthood power to the earth. This is the same power that Peter had and taught about. And because this power is on the earth, I can be with my family forever...if I keep the commandments of God. The knowledge that I can be with my Husband, children, parents and sisters for all eternity is priceless. God has answered my prayers time and time again that this is the restored church of Jesus Christ...THE place where I have had almost every question answered. This church has all the blessings, teachings and spiritual enlightening that I know God has for me.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to live the teachings of Christ by studying my scriptures and praying. Once a week I get to play the piano for the children at church. I love listening to them sing and talk about the teaching of Jesus. It's so sweet and VERY funny at times ;) I think I live my life more like Christ through music. It touches my soul and teaches me more than my studying sometimes. When I'm down or I need encouragement, I think about those sweet children and their testimonies of Christ through their singing. I hum or sing a children's song or a hymn and things start to get better...maybe not easier, but better.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Eternal life is living with God for eternity. If we keep God's commandments, follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and repent of our wrong doings, then we can return to God's presence and live with him for eternity. Show more Show less
