Hi I'm Stacy Butler

I grew up in New Mexico, I'm serving in the Philippines for 18 months. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an outgoing person who loves to laugh. My hobbies are drawing, photography, and kayaking. I love animals, so my hopes are to volunteer at an animal shelter when I get off my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

During my childhood, Religion wasn't important. My mother is Christian, but my father is an ashiest. I wasn't forced to go to church or get baptized. I wasn't a very happy kid because I was born with Ocular Motor Apraxia, and that caused the other children to torment me. Ocular Motor Apraxia is a condition where a child has a breakdown (failure) in starting (initiating) fast eye movements. I couldn't move my eyes horizontally, and I would have to move my head to see. Because of this I hated myself, and I thought, "If there is truly a God, why did he make me like this?! Why does he allow people to make fun of me? Why doesn't he protect me?" I grew up looking for answers. I wanted to give up so many times. One of my friends invited me to church, and I agreed. As I went to church, I was greeted by Missionaries. They talked to me about God and Jesus Christ. They told me what I needed to hear, that God loves me, and he gives me trials to learn and conquer them. He knew what I was capable of, and He knew that the trial I had in grade school would make me a stronger person. He also knew that I would go searching for Him to get answers. This is why I am Mormon, Heavenly Father is there for me, and he loves me. He placed people in my path to help show me the way. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a year and a half, and I am going to serve a mission.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being there for others. By being a convert to the church, I know it is hard for investigators to open up to Missionaries. I try teach with the Missionaries to share my conversion story and my testimony. I want people to see that, it is OK to ask for guidance when you're lost.
