Hi I'm Brooke Mortensen

I am a Washingtonian. I am an athlete. I am a vocalist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Washington State! I'm a fanatic about music (specifically singing), sports, and family. I love being with people, learning stories, and having a great time. I absolutely love to laugh! I'm a choral education major and currently serving in the Korea Seoul South mission! Its the hardest thing I've ever done, but it is the single most rewarding thing I've ever done.3

Why I am a Mormon

I absolutely love the joy that the church brings! The happiness, friendship, and love. Being Mormon isn't just a religion, its a life style. This entitles always doing your best, serving others, being happy, striving to be like our Savior Jesus Christ, and constantly progressing. I struggled when I started high school, I was only going to church because of my parents. I began early morning seminary, a bible study class before school. I walked in at 5:50am. The seminary president welcomed me with a huge smile. "What in the world does he have to be happy about so early in the morning?" I thought. To this day I greatly appreciate his happiness every morning. I would watch as a group of kids from my class walk to school together as I trailed behind. They were always smiling. I wanted that, the happiness they had. I heard them talk about their parents; I longed for that kind of relationship with my own parents. By the end of the year I was part of that group! I had that happiness in my life and had a better relationship with my parents. This happy group of 'Mormons' were so inviting and accepting. I became a happier person. Ever since that year, I have made it a goal to always be happy and friendly, to help those who are feeling what I had once felt. The kids from my seminary class changed my life dramatically. I want to be able to have this same affect on others. To bring them the love, warmth, and acceptance that their Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ have for them.

How I live my faith

I am very involved in music in the community (schools and church) as well as community youth sports. I love helping children discover a passion and really thrive in music and/or sports! Assistant teaching and coaching is a passion of mine! I was a music leader in the church, for the ward choir as well as our children's primary program. I love hearing children bare their testimony through the songs they sing. Music is such a powerful way to share what you believe, its a universal language, anyone and everyone can understand and feel it's power. I enjoy staying very busy and interacting with people of every age. Sharing my testimony and experiences has become such a joy to me since I left on my mission! I absolutely love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I want others to see the happiness and pure joy that this gospel brings. I've seen its amazing power and strength in my life and in the lives around me.
