Hi I'm Christen Crews

I'm a mother, a recovering addict, and I love nature and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of two and a convert to the church. Through my trials and being a part of a twelve step program, I began to have a yearning to know who God was and to have a relationship with Him. I had no religious background - all I knew is that I needed to find a God of my understanding who was loving and with whom I could have a personal relationship. I kept asking my husband if we could go to church, until finally, I told him one Sunday, "We're going to church." Being a convert himself, he knew where to go, and we attended our first Sacrament meeting November of 2012. Then we introduced ourselves to the missionaries, who began teaching us the lessons. I accepted the truth of the gospel and was baptized on December 2, 2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the love I have for my Savior, and the joy I feel from following His commandments. I am a Mormon because of the truth of the fullness of the gospel. Having a living prophet and the scriptures means that I never have to walk in the dark again - I have a clear path to follow without confusion. Knowing the plan of salvation gives purpose and meaning to my life. I am grateful to know that Christ lives, that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God, that our Heavenly Father loves us infinitely, and that I am a precious daughter of God. He loves all of His children so much that He gave His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that we may repent and be cleansed from our sins, and ultimately live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by leaning on and following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Daily prayer, scripture study, partaking of the Sacrament each week - these are all things that sustain and strengthen my faith. The scriptures and words of our church leaders bring me so much comfort and joy, especially when I am in need of spiritual answers or reassurance. I help in the nursery currently, and it is such a joy to watch the young children learn about the gospel. It brings me joy to teach my children gospel principles of prayer, and to play the primary and gospel hymns in our home. Through the Atonement, I have been able to give up addictions to coffee and cigarettes. I find myself feeling much healthier and happier for it. I am able to go for a run now, which I always wanted to do, but never had the stamina for - definitely a great benefit of following the Word of Wisdom.
