Hi I'm Randy Green

I am a Mormon. I joined the Church at the age of 20 and later served a mission in France.

About Me

I am a Lieutenant Colonel serving on active duty with the North Carolina Army National Guard. My wife and I have 4 children ranging in age from 17 to 23. One son at BYU-Idaho, a daughter at Appalachian State University, a daughter attending Durham Technical Community College, and a son who is a senior in high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church in 1983 at the age of 20. I was actively looking for a church that met my spiritual needs and answered complex questions about the Gospel. After careful investigation and prayer, I received a personal revelation that the Gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth in its fullness. That Gospel, and the Church were restored by a modern prophet named Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I serve as the secretary in the Men's group which supports the congregation. Since we do not have a paid clergy, the men all take on some degree of responsibility to minister to the members of the congregation (we call it a Ward). I have 4 specific families that I am responsible for. I visit them at least once a month and try to assist them with any issue that might require assistance. 2 of my families are in the medical profession and are out of town quite a bit. I enjoy taking care of their yards when they need a little help. The best thing is these wonderful families allow me to help them.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Randy Green
Prior to coming to earth, we were all created as spirits. We elected to come to earth to receive a body and pass through a period of trial. In doing so had complete agency, or freedom of choice, to determine the direction of our lives. Would we serve the God who created us and the Saviour who redeemed us, or would we follow Satan and his mortal temptations? That is why we are here. Show more Show less
