Hi I'm Al

I have a beautiful wife and a happy life! Currently in dental school living out my dreams.

About Me

I was born and raised in Holladay, Utah. I Grew up playing every sport possible, especially basketball, waterskiing, and tennis. I served a full-time mission for my church in Anchorage, Alaska for two years. I received a History Teaching degree at the University of Utah along with a minor in Chemistry. I lived in Spain for a year studying Spanish in Barcelona and Santander. I am approaching my two-year anniversary with my wonderful wife, Maggie. Currently I am attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia for dental school. I love to play sports, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

From a young age my parents taught me about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I attended the Mormon Church and was taught that I was a child of a Heavenly Father, that He loved me, and He sent His Son to die for me. I grew up with wonderful examples who showed me how to be respectful, self-less, and to love others. It wasn't until after I graduated high school that I sincerely questioned whether or not the principles I had been taught during my youth were true. I recognized the morals I had been taught were good and health, but was unsure about the doctrine. I seriously doubted my faith and ultimately put it to the test through consistent study and prayer. After several months of struggling to get any answer from God, I distinctly remember an experience I had while reading the scriptures one night in my bedroom. The Book of Mormon contains a promise that if anyone will read it with an open heart and real intent they will be given a witness of it's truthfulness by the Holy Spirit. I experienced that witness and felt the Holy Spirit bear witness to me that it was true and that everything I had learned in my childhood was true and from the Lord. Several experiences since then have reconfirmed that witness I received. I know that I am a son of a Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to be my perfect example, to die for my sins, and to conquer death for me through his resurrection. I love Him so much, and I know He is at the head of this church, leading and guiding it through modern day apostles and prophets. The perspective and joy that has come into my life is from my belief in the Savior and I am so grateful for Him.

How I live my faith

Maggie and I recently moved to Richmond, Virginia and have been welcomed warmly into our community. We have made many friends with classmates at school, neighbors, and other Mormons at our church nearby. The stress of moving across the country has greatly been lightened by those at church who helped us move in and feel welcome. The organization and structure of the Mormon Church allows for a vast network and support system wherever you are in the world. We are so grateful for those who have helped us transition into our new home. Maggie and I are currently teaching the 12-14 year olds during Sunday School. We are excited to be working with the youth and hope we can be positive influences on their lives. It has been fun interacting with them each week and getting to know them better. We love the members of our local church and are excited to be among such great people!
