Hi I'm Ashlyn

I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and South Jordan, UT. I'm inspired by art and history. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am the second oldest of nine kids, five girls and four boys. Big family's run in my family, which I love because you never are alone, you always have someone to talk to or hang out with.I love music and I play the violin and piano. I just finished my first year at community college and it was great! I intend to eventually major in Ancient Near Eastern Studies with a minor in Art History. I love reading about different cultures and seeing how everything is connected. Going camping in the mountains is one of my favorite past times. My dream is to travel the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that what the Church teaches is true. I'm a Mormon because I have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and he answers my prayers. I am a Mormon because knowing this truth brings me happiness, joy, and peace in this chaotic world. I am a Mormon because everything good testifies of Christ and the Atonement.

How I live my faith

I've participated in all the youth programs while growing up. I try to bring the Gospel into my every day life, teaching by example. Even if people don't know what religion I follow they can still know that I have standards and that I am happy. Just this last summer I was able to work at an LDS girls camp where I was privileged to teach the Gospel to seventh and eighth grade girls. This coming November I will be leaving on an 18 month mission to Mexico! I am so excited to meet and teach the gospel to those people.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

We dress up in our Sunday Best. Which pretty much means for ladies a nice dress or skirt. Men wear a white shirt and tie and generally a suit or sport coat with slacks. We celebrate Christmas and Easter which commemorate events in the Lord Jesus Christ's life. Christmas celebrates His birth and Easter commemorates his death and resurrection including the Atonement which is the center of the LDS faith. We also celebrate things like national holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. Show more Show less
