Hi I'm Shayla

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. I am a substitute teacher and I also teach piano. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I work part time as a substitute teacher and part time as a piano teacher. When I am not working I LOVE staying home with my youngest of 4. My kids are very active and I like to be with them whenever I can as they participate in their sports and school activities. My husband is a teacher, coaches, and works small side jobs so together we are very busy, but we know how important family is so we make that our first priority. On the nights where we get to stay home and relax we enjoy watching Amazing Race, Duck Dynasty, and football. I also enjoy reading, but when I start to read a good book I have the problem of not being able to concentrate on anything else until my book is done.

Why I am a Mormon

Eternal Families. I believe that my four children, my husband, and myself can be a family forever. They are the most important part of my life and I cannot imagine anything without them. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and he sent me some of His most greatest possessions in the form of my children. He sent His son to show us the way back to Him. The miracles that were performed while Jesus Christ was on this earth were simple and many were complex. He performed these always in the service of love, humility, and grace and this is something I am striving to do. Help others feel of my love for them in giving them a way back to their Heavenly Father. Being a Mormon provides a network of people around me who are kind, compassionate, and looking for ways to serve those around them. Through prayer I am close to my Father in Heaven who knows what I need and helps me be better able to handle the trials I have and am going to have in this lifetime. The sacrifices that were given to me are far greater than any sacrifice I can make in this lifetime. I love the Book of Mormon. What a great example of faith in our Savior. My testimony grows stronger every time I have the chance to read about how loved the people in the America's were during the resurrection of Christ. Truly inspiring.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as my ward's Relief Society President, in other words, in charge of the welfare needs of the ladies in our ward. We try to build unity among the sisters by holding monthly get togethers. Visiting Teaching is a very important part of who I am and what I do. We have a system of making sure that each sister is visited every month. If there is a need we try to help them in any way that we can. Making dinners, watching kids, cleaning houses when somebody moves, and just being there to talk are all a part of our Relief Society. My goal is to help uplift and spiritually strengthen those who I come in contact with by sharing my testimony and giving of my time and any talents I have been given.
