When i wasnt at school i was usually breakin horses or chasin cows. And when i wasnt doin that i was competein in rodeos. And i also like workin with my hands makin and buildin things. Eventually ill start buildin saddles.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am i a Mormon? Im a "Mormon" simply because i know that the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and Prayed about it and the lords told me its true. I do my best to read a part of it everyday and every time i readit there is something in there that applies directly to me and any struggle i might have. I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet and i Sustain our current Prophet and Apostles and church leaders whole heartedly today. I Know that Jesus Christ lives and knows and understands and loves each one of us. I feel his love everyday.

How I live my faith

How i live my fath? right now im livin it by spreadin it the best i can as a missionary, a representative of Jesus Christ. Trying to bring others closer to him and bring to them a knowledge of the gospel. I know this gospel is true, and i love the joy and comfort it brings to me. So now im serving in the Portland Oregon Mission trying to share this with others.

What is the First Vision?

Afton Ballard
The First vision is an event in our church history that marks the beginning of the restoration of Christs gospel and his church here on the earth. It happened in the spring of 1820 in rural upstate New York. During that time there was alot of religious unrest. In that with this freedom of religion the united states had there were many relatively new churches. Every one of these churches claimed to be the true church of god which caused confusion in young Josephs mind. When one day he was reading in the bible more specifically in James 1:5 which reads..“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” Never had a scripture hit him so hard. He then decided to do just that, ask of God. So he went into a nearby grove of trees where he could be alone and in quite there he prayed with real intent which of all the churches were true that he might know which to join. In answer to that simple prayer God the father and his son Jesus Christ themselves appeared unto him. and in his own words Joseph wrote.. "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me,.. when the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” He was told to join none. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Afton Ballard
A Restoration was needed because after Christs death the church was lost from the earth. At the time of Christ, when his church and gospel were here on the earth, as the bible tells us there were twelve apostles as well. Christ gave to these apostles priesthood authority to after his returning to his father in heaven to lead and guide and direct the church, here on the earth. However the people of the world became wicked. And many sought to kill all the Apostles, and succeeded. All the apostles were killed. And because there was no one righteous enough to receive the priesthood to lead and guide the church the apostles did not pass on this authority to anyone else. There for with no one to take their place with the correct authority from god the church fell and was lost. Plunging the world into what would become known as the dark ages. For examle think of a glass table held up by twelve legs and one center leg. The one in the center was Christ. Even though he left the earth and that leg was removed the table could still stand it still had twelve. then one by one the other twelve were taken away. (apostles deaths) and the glass fell, shattering. Then Other churches came and all took pieces, so they all had truths from the gospel, but none had the fullness. Then in 1820, Christ appeared to a young boy, and called new prophets and apostles in the latter days. Then restored the fullness of his gospel here on the earth. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Afton Ballard
we are definitely Christians. Between rumors and the nick name of "Mormon" many people might believe that we are not Christians. But we are, speaking for my self i'm always tryin to be a little better, and little more like him. i come short, i may not always achive that goal day to day. but i love my savior Jesus Christ and could never deny it. He is the head of our church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Show more Show less
