Hi I'm Tanya

I grew up in a small town. I've edited an oral history, and I currently serve as a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love languages, editing, music, fantasy fiction, and anime/manga. I graduated with honors from Brigham Young University, where I studied English linguistics with minors focused in editing, music, and web programming and design. I loved taking such a variety of classes and then seeing how they fit together and added to each other. In my free time, I was usually listening to music or watching anime. One of the only ways to get me to stop watching anime was to give me a fantasy book. I guess what it all comes down to is that I love stories. There are the stories of mystical lands hidden in mountains with a secret in their catacombs, but there are also stories hidden within every single person around us. The summer after I graduated college, I had the opportunity to edit an oral history and put it together into a book. It was published after I left on an lds mission. The main character of that story is one of my heroes. We all have challenges to defeat and talents to develop, though unfortunately they usually do not come in the forms of dragons and magic. In my case, I grew up with divorced parents and all the difficulties that come with that. But I've found that one of my own types of magic I can use to overcome is laughter. When I was younger, one of my cousins was quiet, so my goal was to get her to make any noise at all. That turned in to me trying to make her laugh no matter what joke or funny voice was required. I believe no story is complete without laughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I do not know where I would be without the gospel in my life. Its teachings and the Spirit have guided me to where I am today. I know that this gospel is the true gospel of Jesus Christ restored to the earth in these latter days. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that a living prophet guides this church today. Jesus Christ is there to help us with any of our problems and prayer is a sure recourse for His guidance. It is this knowledge (through the Holy Ghost) that anchors me in this world of changing values.

How I live my faith

In the past I've helped teach the young children and conducted the music. I'm currently serving as a missionary full time, teaching anyone who will listen how to come closer to Christ.
