Hi I'm Katie Johnson

Im from Boise, Idaho. I love to ski and meet new people! Called to serve in the Peru Huancayo Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at BYU majoring in Theraputic Management! I love meeting new people and spending time outdoors, especially doing things like camping, skiing, and rock climbing. I also really enjoy painting and pottery whenever I get the chance. I've been called to serve in the Peru Huancayo Mission! I report to the Peru MTC on January 29, 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel by my parents who are both members. The gospel has been a constant throughout my entire life, but I'll admit there was a time when I wasn't sure that I wanted anything to do with it! People would ask me if I was Mormon, and it's crazy to think that I was hesitant to answer! Oh me and my 14 year old ego. Thank goodness the Lord helped me back to the straight and narrow. I'm not sure when in my life the turning point occurred exactly, but I know it was sometime after an experience at a church youth conference called EFY. While there, I felt the spirit so strongly and I really felt Heavenly Father's love for me. It was amazing to see so many people my age who were strong in their faith, and stood up for what they believed in. They weren't ashamed or quiet about their testimonies, yet they didnt scream it to the world in a self righteous way either. I guess you could say that they preached the gospel at all times, but only used words when necessary. I wanted to be this kind of a person. It was here that a new seed was planted, and that seed has grown into a sure testimony and love of the gospel. I have truly come to have a burning love for my Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. I know that Christ died for me that I may return to live with him again. I know that God knows each of us individually, and his hand touches our lives countless times each and every day. I know that this gospel is the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and it truly changes lives through the Holy Ghost. Ive seen it so times in my life! I know that hears and answers our prayers, and he is excited for us to return to him.

How I live my faith

I am currently in a student ward at BYU, but I previously served as a primary teacher at my home ward in Boise. The most obvious way that I am living my faith today is my choice to serve a mission! As a prepare to serve and as I serve, I am looking forward to being an instrument in God's hands to bring to pass his work and his glory!
