Hi I'm Gerri Sheffield

I'm a senior citizen. I live in Utah, USA, now. I'm a tap dancer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of five children, three of whom are married and have children. I love having grandchildren. Since retiring as a legal secretary, I am in a performing tap dance group which I love doing for the exercise, for the friends I have there, and mostly because it's fun! I was divorced some years ago and a daughter lives with me. I love music though I have no special talent in it. I enjoy doing puzzles of all kinds--jigsaw, crossword, Sudoku, Scrabble and playing games.

Why I am a Mormon

Although my parents did not go to church very much, my mother always encouraged me to go to and I had friends whose parents never went, so I would go to church with them and sometimes with my sister who always went. That's where I learned about our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. That was the beginning of my faith. I tried to live the gospel but it wasn't until I went to school at a university and attended religion classes that were optional that I truly gained a stronger testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My testimony has been tested through the years because of trials but because I have been able to know what it is like to feel the spirit, I know that this is the true gospel. It all makes perfect sense to me as well, but when I feel the spirit in spiritual moments, then I know without a doubt it is true. And that gives me the help I need when I feel alone, when I don't know what to do, when I might doubt, and when I need help or answers. I know that Heavenly Father loves each one of us and is there to help us.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily through prayer, by trying to help others, and by being positive. I like to write and I write a monthly newsletter for the Church's women's group. I also volunteer to help at an LDS Temple one day each week. I also try to always attend my weekly church meetings.
