Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I now live in Utah. I'm a Senior Software Architect and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First things first - I'm a grandfather! I have 9 grandchildren. I LOVE being a grandpa. I had 2 awesome grandfathers and I want to be just like them. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I met a cute little girl in the marching band who won my heart. Though it took 3 years before we started dating (I had to wait in line). We married right after my LDS mission. After 4 years we decided it was time to go to school and get an education. I earned a degree in Information Systems and the spent 2 years in the computer science program working on a masters degree. I worked for a large computer company for 7 years then started my own consulting business. I ran that business for over 10 years, then accepted a full time position with my biggest client. I've worked for them (as an employee) for the past 6+ years and really enjoy my job. I love to take my family camping - especially at Yellowstone. I also love to work on my house and help my children work on theirs. My dream job would be buying and fixing up houses.

Why I am a Mormon

I have never known a single day when I did not believe in Jesus Christ. My parents raised me as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My mother taught me compassion for others as she helped sisters in the ward (congregation) solve their problems and helped them become more self-sustaining. My father taught me how to work hard and serve others. He took me to the homes of widows, the elderly and really anyone in need. We'd clean their yards, paint their homes and just do whatever needed to be done. After experiencing the goodness and truths of the gospel in my own life, I find myself drawn ever closer to Christ each day. My wife (who joined the church when she was 17) and I have strived to raise our own children to be as active in the church as we are. All 3 of our children are married, active in the church and have children of their own. I simply could not be happier.

How I live my faith

When I was 19 I served a mission to the Philippines. Since then I've taught children's class in Primary and Sunday School (my favorite age so far are the 7 year olds). I've also worked with the adults, but working with the children and youth is much more enjoyable. My current service in the church is to serve young single adults (17 - 30 years old) in Lehi, Utah. I've been working directly with young single adults for more then 8 years now. It's extremely rewarding work and I love these young people. I also visit 2 of my neighbors as part of our church's "home teaching" program. That's where we help and watch out for each other. It's a great program, both for those who do the visiting and those who are visited.
