Hi I'm Kelsey

I'm from Spanish Fork, Utah. I attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I love music, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Besides my family and the gospel, the thing I love most is music. I am a member of the BYU Women's Chorus as well as the Utah Valley Millennial Choirs and Orchestra. I sing Soprano. I hope to someday be in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I am a Sophomore attending Brigham Young University. I plan to major in Music Education with a choral emphasis, with a minor in Theatre Art Studies. I love performing. I was recently in the Sound Of Music at the SCERA Shell Theater in Orem this past summer. I play the piano and teach to the younger kids in my ward. If you can't tell, all I do involves performing and music. I love being with family and hanging out with friends. I also love to smile and laugh. :) (perhaps too much) I also love to read, cross-stitch, sew, quilt, and make crafts.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess you could say that I have been one who was born into the gospel. Both my parents have been members since I was born. I didn't fully understand the gospel when I was younger, but I always went to Church and followed my parents' example. I do now, however know that it is true. I continue to follow the gospel and be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it makes me happy. A lot may say that it is too demanding but I don't find it to be. It makes me happy to know that my Heavenly Father loves me, and I love him too. He sent his Son, Jesus Christ to this earth to atone for the sins of all mankind. He is our redeemer and living breath of this world. He is our light. I know that families can be together forever through all eternity if we live righteously and obey the commandments of the Lord. This gospel blesses lives and I know that to be true. Most importantly, this gospel has taught me about love. We should love everyone and through Christ's example I know that to be true. I know that President Monson is a prophet of God and that God speaks through him. I know this gospel to be true. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I was called to be my Ward Choir Director at age 15 and am currently the Primary Chorister. In doing so, I teach all the youth, age 4-12 music and help them have a fun and spiritual experience at church. I have loved being a part of the music making in my ward. I am 19 and have my mission call, I am going to serve in the Chile Santiago West Mission, I report to the Chile MTC on February 12th, 2014.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, it isn't required for all Mormons to serve a mission. It is a choice, for young men, however it is recommended that if they are worthy and physically and mentally capable to serve, they should, however it is not mandatory. Young Women can choose for themselves whether or not they want to serve a mission. Show more Show less
