Hi I'm Gloriann Egan

I grew up in Utah. I was a legal secretary for over 30 yrs. I love doing genealogy & finding my ancestors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 7th child in a family of 9 children. In school I was always good in math, but decided to pursue a secretarial course and worked as a legal secretary right out of high school. I love reading, all kinds of books but mostly dramas and mysteries and those involving the legal field, such as author John Grisham. I have spent several years doing genealogy work. I am a mother of 6 children (3 girls and 3 boys) and a grandmother of 12 grandchildren, all of whom are very dear to me. Family is the most important thing our Heavenly Father has provided for us while on this earth, and it is in families we will be able to live with our Father in Heaven as we accept and live the Plan of Happiness as taught by Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I have received a personal witness that my Savior lives, that the Book of Mormon is true, and that this is Jesus Christ's church restored to the earth again. Because of that personal witness, it's easy for me to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I will make mistakes in this life, but I also know my Heavenly Father will forgive me when I truly repent, and that through the atonement of our Savior, I can be forgiven. I receive the greatest joy in this life when I am obedient, because it is through obedience to God's laws that I am truly free; through obedience I feel I have the greatest power to do good and to help others. And through that obedience, the blessings from God flow into my life - so many that sometimes I am overwhelmed with the love my Heavenly Father has for me. Life is not always easy, but all the struggles are made easier when Jesus Christ is my partner, and it's all worth it knowing eternal life with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are what awaits me at the end if I can just endure. I love my Savior. I know He lives. I know He died for ME, personally, so that I can live again. There is nothing in this world that I would take in place of my membership in His church, for my membership in His church gives me everything I could ever want. I know that Heavenly Father is a very loving Father and He wants all of us to return to live with Him. It's up to us to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be baptized by one holding His priesthood authority, and then try each day to follow in Christ's footsteps. When we do all of this, He can then bless us each day with the Holy Ghost as our guide and protector. I feel the Holy Ghost in my life every day and would not want to go through one day without his presence. It's really very simple - God loves us and has a plan for us. It's up to us to recognize that plan, accept it, do what He asks, and then He can bless our lives.

How I live my faith

As the present time, I am serving a full-time mission for the Church with my husband of 36 years. We are serving in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. It is a rewarding experience helping others understand our Savior's love for them and giving them the opportunity to feel that love in their own lives as they learn of the healing power of the atonement. My husband and I recently served in the Park Avenue Branch in Riverton, Utah. This branch is located in a retirement community and the average age is around 75, with the majority of the members being widows. I taught the classes on the church's new genealogy program and helped them learn how to find their deceased ancestors and prepare their names for the saving ordinances in the temple. In one year, members of the branch found the names of over 2,000 deceased ancestors. It was a very exciting time for me to be a part of this program and to see these elderly people become involved in this great work. I would get so excited whenever I was able to help someone find their ancestor; it was as if that person were directly related to me. But in reality, we are all brothers and sisters, children of our Heavenly Father, and He wants all of us to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to help so many receive the ordinances of the temple. I want to help our Heavenly Father's children on the earth today learn how they can receive these saving ordinances and accept the plan Jesus Christ has for them.

Are Mormons Christians?

Gloriann Egan
Yes. Jesus Christ is the central focus of our faith. It is through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we are healed and that we can be forgiven of our mistakes in this life. This is His gospel, His church, His Plan of Happiness. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can receive true joy in this life. Show more Show less
