Hi I'm Camille

I'm a concert pianist, way too hyper, and your friendly neighborhood Mormon.

About Me

I guess I was born with music in my lungs. I started singing before I started talking, and had my first piano lesson on my 4th birthday. I've competed and performed from Seattle to New York City. But my real love is teaching - I began with my first student when I was 12 years old. There's just nothing like it. Other things about me - I am real-life Fluttershy. If you don't like animals, we'll still get along, I'll just never understand you. I also love video games, dancing poorly, rollerblading, and generally being loud. I'm a Hufflepuff. The best decision I ever made was to be baptized a Mormon; the second best was to serve a mission for my Lord and Savior! I am currently preaching the gospel in Spanish in the great Kentucky Louisville Mission (GKLM). I know this Church is true because the only proof we use is the individual's own answer from God, and it works every time, just like it did for me 9 years ago. What could be simpler? What could be more obvious?

Why I am a Mormon

If everything else in the world is a lie, I know that Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. But as a young woman, I spent a lot of time exploring all of the different Christian religions. I wanted to know which one, if any, really was Christ's church. I discovered that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helped me get to know Him personally. The Book of Mormon brought me close to Him and brought His light more strongly into my life. I heard His voice in the pages. Also, as I got to know Christ better, I realized that the doctrines that set Mormons apart from other Christian churches matched what I understood about the nature of our Savior. It just makes sense. But logic is only half of it. I know, through my own study, fasting and prayer, that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. His priesthood power is alive. His voice, through the Bible, Book of Mormon, and modern-day revelation, has led my life and called me to feed His sheep in Kentucky. His Atonement is real, His Church is real, and His love is all around us. All we need to do is reach out and find Him!

How I live my faith

Before I left for my mission, I served as a Sunday School Teacher for a small class of special needs or convert youth. This class was separate from more advanced classes so that they could develop a solid understanding of the basics of the gospel. We call this a "Gospel Principles" class. I have also served as a church pianist throughout my life. When I was 11, my bishop asked me to learn to play the organ as well, so I started taking lessons and began my calling as the ward organist a few months later. I play almost every Sunday but sing whenever I get a break!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Camille
No unclean thing can enter into the kingdom of God. Are you perfectly clean? Am I? Is there anyone that has never made a mistake? Whether you lied to your mom once as a kid, hit and killed a deer on the highway, or spent years trapped in substance abuse - one mistake made and you are imperfect. You can't change that. Years of service and devotion to God will not undo that lie or revive that deer or un-do those drugs. You're stuck. That's why we have the Savior. He, as the perfect Son of God, had a ticket into heaven. He DID it - He lived perfectly. But he chose to suffer the consequences for our sins, so that we don't have to. Every wrong you've ever committed, every harsh word said, every promise broken or tear shed, has been suffered. All you have to do now is do what He asks, and He'll make up your difference. Can I ever repay him? No. Can I ever deserve what He did for me? I wish! But we do our best to follow Him and help others to do the same, and one day we'll get to thank Him face to face. I look forward to it. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Camille
Super happy! I know I can be with my family forever, I'm not addicted to anything, I enjoy the companionship of the Holy Ghost, I'm given opportunities to serve within my church and community, I learn more about my Savior every day. What could be better than this?? Show more Show less
