Hi I'm jacob

Hi, I am Jacob. I enjoy being in the outdoors looking at deer and elk and all other kinds of animals. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am from Arizona in the United States of America I enjoy hunting and fishing and all outdoor activities. In school math was my favorite subject and with that i hope to become an engineer some day after serving a mission. I am a brother to three sisters, and uncle of two little kiddos I am currently serving as a full time missionary who will be teaching the gospel in California

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church, but I also gained my own testimony of the correctness of the gospel through the trials that have been placed into my life. One thing that I know for myself is that families can be together forever if it is sealed in the temple and as long as we live up to the standards that God has given to us. I have found this out through the loss of someone very close to me who was called back to live with Heavenly Father. At first I could not understand why my mom was taken off the earth before i served a mission and before many other important things that happen in everyone's lives. I turned to the Lord to try to understand why He would let this happen, and I got an answer from Him that this is all part of His plan and that all our trials are for our gain. I also know that my whole family will be reunited eventually and that I need to do my part if I want to be with them forever. That is why I try everyday to be a little better, do a little more, and love my family as much as I can.

How I live my faith

I try to live the Gospel every day in my life by the way I treat those around me. This is easy to do when I keep the thought in my head that we are all siblings and are all trying to be happy and that the best way to become so is by living the way that Heavenly Father asks us to. In addition to this I have served in many callings to help to organize activities in my youth groups and to spend time doing service projects to benefit those who are in my area.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

There is no requirement for all members of the church to serve missions quite often when members of the church realize the blessings that have come into their lives as a result of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their lives we desire to share it with everyone and the best way to do that is by serving as a Full-Time missionary. Missionaries volunteer to go out to share the Gospel and devote all their time for 2 years for males and 18 months for females to teaching people about Jesus Christ. it is wonderful to be able to serve to Lord for 2 years for you are really able to see the changes that the teachings of Jesus Christ can work in the lives of the people you meet. there is a grand tradition of missionary work in the church and missionaries will continue to go out until everyone on the face of the Earth has had the opportunity to hear the message that they are so privileged to share. There will always be young men and women who feel a great need to help others to know of the things that have so greatly blessed their lives and that they know will bless the lives of all those who hear them. What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

"testimony" even though it is a unusual word the definition is very simple. It is what we know to be true, something that the Holy Ghost has testified, or made know, to us individually. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

The temple is the house of the Lord, and by being such everyone who enters into a temple, that has been dedicated, needs to meet a standard of worthiness to be there and this is to help them prepare to be there. Everyone is welcome to walk the grounds and to visit the temple while it is having whats called an open house right before it is dedicated. There is nothing "secret" that goes on in the temple, but everything that goes on is sacred and very special. The temple is a place where we make sacred covenants, promises, to God including being married for time and for all eternity thereby qualifying us to be with our families forever. It is also a place where we do proxy ordinances for those who have passed away without having the opportunity to do them themselves while living. Also the temple is a place of learning where we are taught about God's plan for us as his children and about how He desires all of us to return to live with Him some day, but we need to abide by His commandments in order to qualify to return to live with Him. In addition to these things the temple is a place of peace and of comfort it is somewhere that many go when seeking the answer to questions, for it is a place that is different from the rest of the world it is a place where there are not the distractions of work, or busy schedules, but is instead a place of calmness. Often members of the church say they love the temple and this is the reason why they love the temple. Show more Show less
