Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a merit badge counselor. I'm an Idahoan. I'm a certified nursing assistant (CNA). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing, paint, and draw. I love music. I like to play chess with my brothers and dad. I'm even considering writing a few books. I have participated in mock trial, which helped me a lot. I love to do scout-type activities as well, such as camping and hiking. I am so grateful for nature and enjoy exploring it. I am an emergency preparedness merit badge counselor. I just graduated from high school. I have a pet dog and a cat. I am a certified nursing assistant (CNA). I am about to go on a mission to Tijuana, Mèxico. I am way excited! I want to share the gospel. I am preparing by taking a mission preparation class. I know a little Spanish and am learning more. After my mission, I am planning to go to college and become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I am also looking forward to someday getting married in the temple and raising children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the many small experiences I have had that give evidence to me that the church is true. The most important thing is that I have prayed multiple times to know if the church and the Book of Mormon is true and I have always received a witness that both are true. This witness came from the Holy Spirit as mentioned in Luke 11:13 and in the Book of Mormon in 3 Nephi 7:21. I know this was true, and I know that this church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. I know that the Lord lives and loves each of us individually. I know that we are His children. I know that through Joseph Smith, He restored the true church in our day. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior. I love Him. I am so grateful I know these truths. They have helped me in so many ways. I have always been blessed when I am obedient to the current prophet's counsel. The gospel brings peace, joy, and confidence to my life.

How I live my faith

I am in a young single adult ward. A ward is a local group of members who make up a congregation. I am secretary in the women's organization in my ward. It is sometimes tough, but it's also rewarding. It helps me get to know the other ward members. I also get to visit specific women in the ward to see if I can help them and become friends with them. I do my best in my responsibilities in life as well as in church. I also like to participate in the community. I have volunteered at the local nursing home where I painted residents' nails and helped with other activities. I participated with my family in the City of Joseph pageant when it was put on in my community.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

We believe men and women are equal. The priesthood is very important. It takes a lot of responsibility. It is a lifelong calling to all worthy males. Females, however, have a different role that is equally important, equally challenging, and equally rewarding. This is the role of motherhood. We believe the family is essential. The father is the priesthood holder and the mother is the primary nurturer. Even if a woman cannot have children in this life, she still nurtures and uplifts those around her in a way no one else can. This doesn't mean women can't lead in the church and contribute greatly. There is one organization in particular that all Mormon women are part of. This is called the Relief Society. There are plenty of positions in this and other church organizations to which women can be called. Women are respected in the church and not looked down upon. Show more Show less
