Hi I'm Nick White

I was born and raised in Connecticut, Im going to serve my 2 year mission in Zimbabwe, and Im a Mormon

About Me

I am a college student going to the best university in the world... BYU-Idaho! I just finished my first year there and Im about to take 2 years off to serve a mission for my church in Africa, which I could not be more excited for! I love to play sports, my favorites are Football, Basketball, Wrestling and most of all Volleyball. In my high school years my friend and I actually started our schools first varsity volleyball team from scratch, which was a long and hard 2 year process. After my mission I am going to hopefully study business and one day I hope to own my very own business to be able to support a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of how this gospel makes me feel. my conversion starts with my brother and in preschool he made a friend and his name was Will, Will was a member of the church but my brother was not and they grew up hanging out and one day when they were freshmen in high school my brother wanted to sleep over Wills house but Will said his mom would not allow it because he had church the next morning, so Will then said if he wanted to sleep over he would have to go to church, the next day went to church, he came home after church and said he wanted to go back the next week. now Im just going to rewind a little bit because the year before I had met some people, one kid who was in my home room class his name was Matt and he was mormon and he told me what it sort of meant. Then in my art class I didnt have many friends and one day a kid named Zach, he just sat next to me and started talking to me which made me feel so happy, he was one of the cool kids, he said he was a mormon but I didnt think much of it. now back to my brother saying he wanted to go to church again, I thought about my friend Zach and Matt and a few other kids, and said I would go with him the next week which made my mom want to go and eventually my dad. From the first time I stepped foot in the building I felt there was something different, and over time I started seeing differences in myself and my family, and it is these blessings that pushed us to WANT to get baptized Now Im serving a mission!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example and action, I have gone through the Boy Scouts of America program and become an Eagle Scout, but i did not do it for myself, I did it so I can prepare myself for being a better future member of a society, and a better dad. And for my Eagle Scout Project I did a food drive to help out a food pantry that was running low on food. This food pantry was helping out many people in my community so it was such a blessing to be able to help so many of gods children through my work as a Boy Scout. I have also had a few assignments in the church, Like when I was a senior in high school I was called as a youth executive for my churches local youth for an area that covers a large portion of the county I live in. In that job I had the opportunity to help plan all the local church dances/standards nights/various other church youth activities that were on a large level. I was so blessed to have this calling and to be able to show the lord my love for him through working to plan these fun events! I have also been called for a short period of time as a teacher for 11 year olds, this was so much fun to do, and I grew to love these kids and I realized that I learned way more planning the lessons then I thought I ever could learn about a specific subject without having the motivation of having to teach it to the kids. I saw myself grow as a teacher in that calling which will come in handy because I hear you do some teaching on your mission!
