Hi I'm Caylie Barnes

I grew up in a family of eleven and am currently serving a mission in the Illinois, Chicago West mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and loving it. When I return home, I plan on practicing my hobbies. I love to bake cupcakes, or anything sweet. I love babysitting and playing with kids. They have so much joy and bring so much meaning to life. I plan on returning to college so that I can one day become a proof-reader for novels. Besides baking and babysitting, I love books. So, there you have it: baking, babysitting, and books.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because it has made me the happiest person I could ever be. The family values I have been taught because of being raised in the Church have made me closer to my eight siblings, as well as my parents, than I could have ever imagined. We are one big, huge family who love and trust each other. Yeah, we're definitely not perfect, but we stick together through thick and thin. Why am I a Mormon? Because without the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Priesthood, I would be lost. There are simple steps that we can take to learn more about what God would have us do, and how to become more like our Savior in the doctrine of this Church. Faith, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost are incredible steps that have changed my life. Without faith, I would not be who I am today. I am someone who relies on faith and hope until I know for myself that it is true. It may seem silly to depend on something or someone you can't see or haven't met, but that's what I did and have done and will continue to do until my dying day. Why am I a Mormon? Because I have tested the promise found in the Book of Mormon, in the last Moroni, in the last chapter (Moroni 10:3-5) and I have received a witness that this is the restored Church of Jesus Christ, revealed to a young boy in a grove who wanted to know which church on the earth was true. I know that Joseph Smith saw our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ and that today, we have a living prophet: Thomas S. Monson, who continues to receive revelation from God to lead and guide our Church. I know that we can receive personal revelation for our lives and that the Book of Mormon is true. Jesus Christ is the center of our religion. I have come to know Him, and I strive daily to be more like Him because He is my Savior, my Brother, and my Best Friend. He atoned for the sins of all mankind, and He knows everything that we have ever gone through. He knows every hurt, heartache, joy, and happiness we have felt.

How I live my faith

Something I like to do with all the different things I bake is have bake sales outside my house with all my friends. It's a lot of fun to meet new people and share with them my talents--who can turn down a delicious cupcake? When it's too cold for a bake sale, I like to just make up plates of goodies and deliver them to people in my neighborhood. I may be shy, but I love to share with anyone.
