Hi I'm Alissa

I have found peace. I have found joy. I have found hope. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student studying occupational therapy. I am a violinist. I love learning new things and am learning how to kayak, play the ukelele, and how to decorate cakes. I enjoy hiking, running, and cooking. I love meeting and getting to know new people from all walks of life. I find great inspiration in people like Mother Theresa and John Wooden.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true and I can not deny this knowledge. I know that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and Savior. He has saved me from my sins, my mistakes, and my weaknesses. I know that Jesus Christ has restored the fullness of His gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know this to be true not because somebody just told me so but because I asked God if the Jospeh Smith story and restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was true and it is! I will never forget the feeling I felt the day I knelt down in prayer to ask God if all that I had been taught was true. As I knelt there in my room, with tears rolling down my face I felt a warm sensation fill my entire soul. Since that time and as I study and have more experience with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have felt the Holy Ghost bear witness again and again of its truthfulness! I love the hope, the peace, and the love I find as I live by the precepts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I try living my faith every moment of everyday. I am not perfect but I seek daily to keep the commandments and be a representative of Jesus Christ. I want to be a window to His love. In order to live my faith I must first know and understand what I believe. For this reason I studying the scriptures daily and communicate with my loving Heavenly Father through prayer. I cherish those tender moments when I receive a personal answers or a deeper understanding through prayerful studying of the scriptures. I know that my Heavenly Father lives and is present in my life. I show my love and gratitude to him by seeking ways to serve those around me. Life is hard, but our Heavenly Father is aware of us and He sends us tender mercies everyday to help remind us of who we are and of His great love. We all go through trials and tribulations but as I help others through their hard times the Lord is helping me through mine.
