Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a student, I'm recently married, I love France, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recently married student who loves to play sports, music, board games, you name it! As long as it's with the family, you can count me in! I also love being outdoors; I love to go camping, hiking, boating, and running (to name but a few). I recently returned from a stay in France and I absolutely loved it! My wife and I still enjoy making french cuisine together and speaking french around the house.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always known that God was there. I have always believed strongly in His existence and was taught by my parents from my earliest childhood how to turn to him when I stood in need. Thus, prayer has always been a habit which has always come naturally and easily to me. There came a time in my life when I was really going through some hard times. For years I was in a situation from which I needed deliverance. There was a constant rain cloud over my head preventing me from feeling joy. I remember one night during this period when we had finished reading the scriptures together as a family, a thought came to my mind. I realized that I loved reading the scriptures! From that moment, things started to change. The things that I did, such as read, pray, and go to church did not change, but the reasons that I did them started to change dramatically! I prayed harder than I ever had before; and when I read the scriptures, I was no longer reading out of habit. I was searching for something; anything that could help me! As I had a long commute to school, I would often pray out loud for Him would come into my life and change what needed to be changed, or sing the songs that I had learned of Jesus when I was young -- pleading for Christ to come in and rescue me. At first I prayed that my deliverance would be immediate. However I soon discovered that change takes time, but it does come to those who are really sincere. I noticed over time that things that used to be difficult for me became more and more manageable and that my own character was changing! I truly saw and felt the grace of Christ change my heart and my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He died for me. He truly has the power to save, to cleanse, and to heal those who seek Him. Since the time that I first gained this knowledge, I have had it confirmed again, and again. I have seen it in others too, as they discover who Christ is. It is for this reason, among others, that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is, to me, a constant effort to live a way of life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. I do my best to read from the scriptures everyday and pray frequently in order to fill my life with uplifting thoughts that give me the strength that I need to face the challenges in my life and motivate me to be the very best person that I can be. I try my best to be service-oriented in my community, in that I always try to see what I can do to help. I love doing volunteer work for people such as teaching English as a second language, helping with moves, gardening, or other such services for those in need.
