Hi I'm Gillian Ponce

I'm a reader and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love reading, writing and shows like Doctor Who. As far as books, I love fantasy and fiction, along with dystopian books. I love anything sparkly or shiny, and I adore penguins and foxes. I serve in the church as a teacher and I'm studying to be an elementary school teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father. I don't know where I'd be without the gospel in my life. It has brought me comfort and feelings of love when I have felt alone. It brings me a sense of who I am and what I'm here to do and be, and what I want to accomplish in this life. I one day want to return and live with Him and my brother, Jesus Christ. This gospel has been a lifeline in my life, and with the knowledge that I have of it, I can't imagine a life without not being a part of it. It brings me joy and happiness, and has made me who I am today. Something that helps me in the struggles I have in life is knowing that I am not alone because I know that I have Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ there to listen to me and help me in anything that is going on.

How I live my faith

I read my scriptures and pray night and day. I try to exemplify Christ through my example by always trying to be happy and give a smile or a listening ear. I try to be helpful to others and I'm always willing to serve. As a teacher to the women in my ward, I try to help them come closer to Christ as I come closer to Christ in studying the lesson that I will teach, as well as studying the gospel every day.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Gillian Ponce
Put simply, it's was Christ's triumph over physical and spiritual death (Preach My Gospel). Christ suffered the pains, sicknesses, and weaknesses of everyone who lived, was living, or who would live on the earth, just so that we didn't have to feel alone and that we could one day return to live with God and Christ again. His triumph over spiritual death, which is committing sins, happened in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he suffered for us all so much that He bled from every pore. For this, we can ask God for forgiveness for our sins, and He will forgive us and allow us to enter His presence again one day. Christ's triumph over physical death happened when he was crucified, and then three days later was resurrected. Death is when our spirit leaves our body, and resurrection is when our spirit and bodies are united eternally. Because Christ was able to overcome death and be resurrected, we one day will be able to have our bodies for eternity, in a perfected state. The Atonement was necessary so that we could live in God's presence again and obtain bodies eternally. Show more Show less
