Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Maryland. I study art and languages. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At a glance my life can seem so stereotypical. I grew up in the faith, I go to BYU, I recently got married and am still studying. I grew up on the East coast in Virginia and Maryland. Early morning seminary started my school days in high school. Now early morning spanish classes start my day. I prepared for a mission but took on the mission and blessing of marriage instead. I love art- spraypainting, ceramics, sculpting. I love movies- I'm a big Star Wars Fan. I love food- Korean, Lao, & Thai food from my youth and Mexican food from my marriage to an RM. I love new music. My mother came from Laos so I love learning about other people and cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not only because I was born in a family of faith, but because I know it is the best way for me to be happy. Conversion has happened over the years. I stay because this church has structure. I stay because this church has truth. I am a mormon because it brings joy to me to know the big picture. I don't have all the answers, but God has always been there for me. My life has direction. My life has purpose. My life has joy. I am choosing to be happy every day, so I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I just joined a new married student ward. It's been a little nervewracking getting adjusted from a singles ward but it's great. I don't have a calling yet but I'm excited. I like to visit a Lao/Thai branch and listen to talks and hymns in different languages.
