Hi I'm Julie

I'm a music mad writer, I love my new found faith in the gospel. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm Julie, I'm a convert to the church, been a member for two and a half years. I love writing poetry and songs, I love music. I'm a young adult working part time and love spending my free time with my family and friends. I love nature, walks in the country and by the sea. I love God's beautiful creations!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have found peace in the true church of Jesus Christ. I did believe in God before but had no firm faith. This church has given me more strength than I could ever have imagined, it has taught me about the purpose of life, it has given me hope for the future, it has brought me peace in this life. I rarely attended other churches beforehand just the odd Christmas services so I had nothing much to compare it to, but I have never felt such a spirit as I have in this church. I know it is the true church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to always trust my Heavenly Father, and by sharing the talents he has given me. I write gospel songs and poetry and I try to share these as much as I can. I serve as a chorister as a calling which means I conduct hymns. I also do indexing for the church which is basically putting names from old records onto family history websites so people doing their family history can find them. I find joy in doing this because it is giving back for all the many blessings I have received. I love helping people and feel the light of Christ shining through me as I serve others.

What is the First Vision?

Julie
When the prophet Joseph Smith was 14, he was living in a time when there were many different churches, who all taught different doctrine and the churches disagreed with each other, but they all said they taught the truth. Joseph thought a lot about this and wanted to know which church was the right one. As he was thinking on this he read a verse in the Bible which says " If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" ( James 1:5) So Joseph decided to ask God. In spring 1820, he went to a grove of trees near his home and began to pray to God. The first vision happened when Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith said of this experience " When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the others - This is my Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Then Joseph asked which church was right and which he should join. Joseph was told not to join any of the churches because none of them were right. This was because none of them had the priesthood authority that the church had when Jesus Christ organised it when He was on earth. This priesthood authority had been lost over time. Joseph Smith's first vision was the first part of the restoration of Jesus Christ's church to the earth. Show more Show less
